Uh…

Hearing those words, Ning Ye’s face was instantly covered with black lines. A helpless smile tugged at the corners of his lips as he replied, “Senior, you must be joking.”

It wasn’t that he disliked Cang Yue—he just felt that what she did was rather inappropriate… and not exactly sanitary.

Heh!

Cang Yue let out a cold snort at his words. After carefully sensing the power she had just absorbed from Ning Ye’s body, her crimson lips parted as she spoke with layered meaning, “Little one.”

“The bloodline power you carry… isn’t ordinary, is it?”

Ning Ye just smiled and shook his head. He didn’t think Cang Yue could truly see through his bloodline, so he casually replied with two words: “It’s alright.”

Hmph!

Cang Yue snorted again. She had sensed it—his bloodline was indeed powerful, beyond anything she’d ever known. But since Ning Ye didn’t seem willing to elaborate, she couldn’t be bothered to pry. After all, he wasn’t the one she was interested in.

Her eyes were already fixed on the silver-haired girl standing behind Ning Ye—Su Su.

“A Royal of the Ghost Spirit Clan?!”

“Looks like my luck has finally turned!”

A faint smirk curled on Cang Yue’s red lips, and her once-cold eyes now burned with fiery intensity.

Before the war between gods and demons, she had witnessed the fall of the Ghost Spirit Clan with her own eyes. Later, she was defeated by the Divine Lord Yan Zhi and left with wounds too deep to heal. Only the true blood of the Ghost Spirit Clan could save her life. But with the clan wiped out, she had no choice but to seal herself inside a bronze coffin, placing her hope in a future reversal of fate.

She had never imagined that upon awakening, she would lay eyes on a living descendant of the Ghost Spirit Clan. With such a twist of fate, her destiny was sure to change—how could she not be elated?

Ning Ye’s brow furrowed as he noticed the undisguised, blazing desire in Cang Yue’s gaze. Without hesitation, he pulled Su Su behind him and said, “Senior.”

“Please show some self-restraint.”

Self-restraint?

It was as if Cang Yue had heard the funniest joke in the world. The smile on her noble, stunning face deepened. She looked at Ning Ye with great amusement and asked, “Little one.”

“Do you even know who I am?”

Heh.

Ning Ye chuckled and answered, “Honored Demon Lord.”

“Cang Yue.”

“For ten thousand years, your great name—who under the heavens hasn’t heard of it? Who would not know it?”

Oh?

Cang Yue arched a delicate brow, the glint in her eyes growing more intriguing. So ten thousand years had passed while she slept… and this little fellow even knew her name. That could only mean one thing—she wasn’t awakened by chance, but because this boy had intentionally come here to do so.

“What’s your name?” she asked calmly.

“Ning Ye.”

Ning Ye responded calmly.

“Then tell me,” Cang Yue said, crossing her arms and gazing down at him with unblinking, burning eyes. “Why did you come to awaken me?”

“A deal,” Ning Ye said simply.

“What kind of deal?” Cang Yue asked, as if it was within her expectations.

“To have you take Su Su as your disciple!”

Ning Ye’s face was solemn as he spoke.

This had been part of his plan from the very beginning. After all, Su Su’s identity as a member of the Ghost Spirit Royal family would be exposed sooner or later. When that time came, she would need someone powerful to help protect her—someone like Cang Yue. And with Cang Yue being a Demon Lord, if she personally guided Su Su in cultivation, then her future potential would be limitless.

“Take her as a disciple?”

Cang Yue raised her brows slightly at his words. After a moment of silent contemplation, she nodded and replied, “Alright.”

She understood the situation clearly. With the bloodline of the Ghost Spirit Royal family, Su Su represented her only hope of survival. So of course she could take her in as a disciple.

“And?”

“This seat wants to know—what do you want?”

Cang Yue narrowed her long, beautiful eyes. Someone as sharp as her naturally saw through it—Ning Ye hadn’t gone to the trouble of awakening her just so Su Su could take a master. What she wanted to know was: what did Ning Ye really want?

Heh.

Ning Ye seemed to see right through her thoughts and couldn’t help but shake his head with a smile. Truth be told, after unlocking the System Mall, he wasn’t exactly tempted by Cang Yue’s cultivation resources anymore. There was only one kind of thing on her that truly made his heart race with desire—and that was the vast arsenal of forbidden weapons he knew she had hidden.

In Against the Nine Heavens, Cang Yue’s rise to become a Demon Lord wasn’t just due to her unparalleled cultivation and peerless combat strength. It was also because she had once forged countless weapons that shook the world.

[Demonic Howl Cannon] – An emperor-level dynasty was wiped out in an instant; billions of lives perished.

[Nine Heavens Yin Thunder] – When the Yin Thunder falls, even the gods are annihilated.

[Moonshade Godslaying Needle] – The most lethal hidden weapon of the demon race. No one has seen its true power—because everyone who has… is dead.

[Falling Stars, Thousand Petals] – Cang Yue’s signature doomsday weapon. Legend says that once it’s unleashed, the stars themselves plummet like a cascade of wilting blossoms. Each petal, a shattered star realm. Its debut on the battlefield of gods and demons annihilated several powerful divine clans in one fell swoop.

…

Within Against the Nine Heavens, over a hundred such legendary weapons were all crafted by Cang Yue alone. Which meant, in Ning Ye’s eyes, Cang Yue wasn’t just some Demon Lord—she was a walking superweapon arsenal.

With Cang Yue on his side, the possibilities would be endless. The only problem? Those things were all forbidden.

He had no idea if Cang Yue would actually be willing to part with any of them.

But now that he was here… he had to at least give it a shot, right?

Hoo…

Ning Ye took a deep breath, then opened his mouth to speak.

“I’ve heard that the mighty Demon Lord once created countless forbidden weapons.”

“If possible… perhaps Senior wouldn’t mind casually tossing a few my way to play with?”

Huh?

Cang Yue blinked in surprise. She hadn’t expected Ning Ye to be that ambitious—he was aiming straight for her precious treasures. Still, she didn’t reject him outright. Instead, after a moment of consideration, she replied, “Alright.”

“But—you’ll have to trade something for them.”

Heh.

Ning Ye smiled faintly and thought to himself: Sure enough, there’s no such thing as a free lunch in this world.

“Then please, Senior—what’s the price?”

He stared calmly at Cang Yue as he asked.

“Lifespan.”

Cang Yue uttered the word without emotion. Right now, the only thing she needed wasn’t power, resources, or secrets—it was lifespan.

“That… who doesn’t need lifespan?”

Ning Ye gave a bitter laugh and shook his head. If she’d asked for anything else, it might’ve been fine. But lifespan? He didn’t even have enough of that for himself. Trading it away now would be far too extravagant—at least, for the time being, it wasn’t an option.

“That’s enough.”

“This seat has said her piece.”

“Don’t say I didn’t give you the chance.”

“If one day you’re willing to trade your lifespan, then everything you want—I’ll exchange it with you.”

“If you’re not willing, this seat won’t force it either.”

Cang Yue’s lips curved into a faint smile—radiant, almost dazzling.

But in Ning Ye’s eyes, it was nothing less than the smile of a devil.

“We’ll talk about it another day.”

Ning Ye let out a soft sigh. Though he couldn’t afford to trade any of his lifespan with Cang Yue for now, he believed that it wouldn’t be long before he could.

After all, he possessed the Reversal Moon Heavenly Blade—earning lifespan was hardly a challenge. What mattered now was confirming one thing: that Cang Yue was open to making a deal.

“Alright then.”

“We’ll talk another day.”

Cang Yue stretched lazily. She never forced others, but she was confident that Ning Ye would be back before long.

In truth, she did require additional life energy beyond what the Tree of Life could provide, to help accelerate the healing of her wounds.

Hearing this, Ning Ye nodded without saying more. Instead, he turned and winked at Su Su.

“Su Su!”

“Hurry and pay your respects to your master!”

Huh?

Su Su scratched her head, utterly confused. But she’d always listened to Ning Ye and, staying true to her earnest nature, immediately dropped to her knees with a thud, knocking her forehead to the ground three times.

“Su Su greets Master!”

“Rise, little one.”

Cang Yue waved her hand dismissively, then narrowed her eyes and spoke again, her crimson lips parting slightly: “Come see me once a month.”

“I’ll personally guide your cultivation.”

“Of course… each time, I’ll need a drop of your true blood.”

As she finished, she turned and plucked a golden leaf from the ancient tree, handing it to Ning Ye.

“This is a leaf from the Tree of Life.”

“It holds powerful life energy, which will help my little disciple recover the true blood she loses.”

“Many thanks, Your Excellency!”

Ning Ye accepted the leaf with a smile, then helped Su Su to her feet.

Truthfully, even if Cang Yue hadn’t given him this leaf, he would’ve just bought high-grade celestial treasures from the system shop to help Su Su replenish her blood. But now that he had this leaf—it was even better.

“Your Excellency,”

“In that case, I’ll be taking Su Su and making our way back.”

With that, Ning Ye tucked away the golden leaf, and without any further delay, led Su Su away from the lonely island.

As she watched the two of them disappear into the distance, Cang Yue looked up at the star-strewn sky. She took a deep breath of crisp, cool air, and a soft, serene smile tugged at her lips.

“To think… ten thousand years have already passed.”

“It feels good… to be alive.”

But then, as if she were suddenly reminded of something, her beautiful eyes turned piercingly cold. Her crimson lips moved as she muttered through clenched teeth:

“Yan Zhi… you wretched woman, just you wait. One day, I’ll make you pay tenfold for the ten thousand years I lost!”

…

Meanwhile, after leaving the Sacrificial Path Tower…

Ning Ye returned to his small courtyard. He personally placed the tree leaf into Su Su’s mouth. Only when he saw the color slowly return to her cheeks and felt her blood and qi gradually stabilize did he finally breathe a sigh of relief.

“Daddy!”

“That lady didn’t seem all that scary!”

“She was actually kinda nice!”

Su Su chewed on the life leaf as she looked up at Ning Ye, her voice innocent and full of curiosity.

Hahaha…

Ning Ye couldn’t help but laugh and shake his head. If only it were that simple—Cang Yue had once ranked number one on the gods’ blacklist in the Nine Heavens. Her methods were ruthless, her temperament cruel to the extreme. If not for Su Su’s Ghost Spirit Royal bloodline—her only chance at survival—then trying to bargain with her would’ve likely ended in a complete disaster.

As Ning Ye was silently reflecting on this…

A graceful figure appeared soundlessly at the courtyard gate.

She wore a form-fitting moon-colored dress, her curves delicate and alluring. The silver moonlight cast a gentle glow over her cold, peerless face, making her seem even more ethereal and breathtaking.

She simply stood there in silence, gazing at Ning Ye. Her fair hands clutched the hem of her skirt, her pearly teeth bit gently into her lower lip. She said nothing—but her eyes were full of deep, complicated sorrow and grievance.

“Princess Consort.”

“Mu Lin.”

Ning Ye turned his head and raised an eyebrow when he saw who it was. The corners of his lips curved into a playful smile.

Heh, this woman came at just the right time…

Now let’s see what this so-called “Number One Love Poison in the Nine Heavens” is really capable of!
