Junlin Imperial Palace, the Observation Terrace.

Clad in a luxurious black gown embroidered with phoenix patterns, Mu Lingxi—the former Saintess of the Yin-Yang Sect—stood with her hands behind her back atop the viewing platform. From her elevated vantage point, she looked down coldly at Wu Lintian as he entered the palace flanked by the Black Cavalry. Her beautiful eyes narrowed, the chill and killing intent within them undisguised.

At that moment, she was contemplating: When would be the best time to have Ning Ye make his move and kill Wu Lintian?

Standing beside her was Princess Consort Mu Lin, looking slightly absentminded, her thoughts seemingly adrift.

Just then, a eunuch dressed in a purple python-embroidered robe hurried to the terrace, fell to his knees before Mu Lingxi, and reported: “Your Majesty the Empress, as soon as the Second Prince returned to the palace, he summoned the noble families of Wudu to gather tomorrow in mourning for the late Third Prince and Third Princess Consort.”

“What?”

Mu Lingxi furrowed her willow-like brows and turned to the eunuch with a sharp gaze.

“He summoned the court officials to the palace right after his return, to pay respects to Wu You and Nian Nujiao tomorrow?”

“Yes, Your Majesty,” the eunuch nodded.

“And?”

“He… also visited the Ten Divine Generals of the palace one by one,” the eunuch replied in a low voice.

“Something’s off.”

“Very off.”

“This guy came back and stirred up so many things all at once?”

“It’s like he had it all planned in advance!”

Mu Lingxi shook her head and murmured thoughtfully.

“Master, what should we do now?” Mu Lin asked in a quiet voice as she stepped closer.

Mu Lingxi pondered briefly, then made her decision:

“We wait.”

“Let’s just see what Wu Lintian is scheming for tomorrow.”

“Now that we have Ning Ye as our trump card… worst case, we just play it early!”

“Yes, Master!” Mu Lin nodded, though an inexplicable sense of unease had begun to settle in her heart.

…

The next morning.

Ning Ye leaned lazily against the old banyan tree, eyes half-closed, quietly enjoying the cool breeze of a summer morning. In his arms, Su Su curled up like a little kitten, obedient and sweet, absentmindedly tracing circles with her finger on his chest out of boredom.

“Last night, Jun Qianyue said… something big would happen today.”

“Add to that Wu Lintian’s return to Wudu…”

“Looks like today’s the day she makes her move.”

At that thought, Ning Ye gently stroked Su Su’s soft, silvery hair and said softly: “Su Su.”

“Dad might have to head out for a bit soon.”

“Be a good girl and wait for me to come back, alright?”

Hm?

Su Su looked up at him with a pout, seeming to sense something.

“Can’t I come with you, Daddy?”

“Su Su’s strong now too, you know! Maybe I could help you!”

Ning Ye chuckled.

He didn’t deny it. Su Su’s cultivation had already surpassed the Legend Realm, stepping into the Divine Sacred Realm—her strength was beyond question. But because of her unique identity, today wasn’t the right time for her to act.

“Su Su, be good.”

“Dad will be back very soon.”

All right!

Su Su had no choice but to nod and mutter, “But you have to come back quick!”

“Su Su will be waiting!”

“Alright.”

Ning Ye smiled dotingly and gently pinched her soft cheek.

Just then, a maid rushed into the small courtyard and called out to Ning Ye—

“Prince Consort!”

“An envoy from the palace has arrived.”

“They’ve invited you to attend the memorial ceremony for the Third Prince.”

Upon hearing this, Ning Ye raised an eyebrow, thinking to himself: It’s begun.

With that, he rose and stretched lazily. After murmuring a few final instructions to Su Su, he departed from the Divine Strategy estate, heading straight toward the palace.

…

Divine Strategy Tower, rooftop of the Divine Strategy headquarters.

“Young Miss!”

“The Third Prince’s memorial is about to begin!”

“The Tenth Prince has already set out as well!”

“All the key figures have arrived!”

“Shall we begin?”

Qianye, clearly excited, addressed Jun Qianyue eagerly.

Mm!

Jun Qianyue gave a soft hum in response, her tone calm and composed as she issued her orders:

“Begin.”

“Relay my command to the Divine Strategy Army—surround Wudu on my behalf.”

“Send word to the An’ning District—they’re to take over governance of Wudu from this point forward. Anyone who resists, kill without mercy!”

“And lastly… summon that woman.”

“I’ll personally escort her back to the palace.”

“Yes, Young Miss!”

Qianye nodded firmly, then turned and hurried away from the rooftop.

“Ahhh—”

Jun Qianyue stretched languidly, a gentle arc curling her lips as she murmured: “Today… is such a lovely day.”

As she spoke, she raised a hand to gently touch the black silk ribbon tied across her eyes.

If everything goes smoothly today… she will finally be able to remove this seal and see the world again with her own eyes.

…

Meanwhile, Ning Ye had already arrived at the Junlin Palace, more specifically, the grand hall—Junlin Hall.

At this moment, the vast palace hall was crowded with the most powerful figures of the Junlin Empire. Whispers and murmurs passed among them:

“The Third Prince and his consort died such a tragic death…”

“Those demonic cultivators deserve nothing less than death!”

“It matters not now. The Second Prince has returned. Those demon-scum won’t be arrogant for long!”

“Yes, I’ve heard that His Highness the Second Prince has uncovered clues pointing to the culprits behind the deaths of the Third Prince and his wife.”

“Truly?”

“Absolutely. No question!”

…

Listening to the court’s chatter, Ning Ye stepped into the grand hall, his expression calm as his eyes casually swept across the room.

Behind the gauzy palace veil at the far end of the hall sat Mu Lingxi, former Saintess of the Yin-Yang Sect, now masquerading as the Empress.

Princess Consort Mu Lin and her puppet Prince Wu Chen stood to either side of her. Notably, Mu Lin avoided Ning Ye’s gaze the moment she saw him, her head lowering instinctively.

Clearly, the love-corrosion Gu inside her was growing stronger, and this small reaction did not go unnoticed by Mu Lingxi.

Standing next to Crown Prince Wu Chen was Princess Wu Yao, her expression cold and solemn. Her teeth bit lightly into her red lips, grief saturating her eyes.

The Third Prince Wu You had been her elder brother—and he’d died here in the palace. These past days, she had been investigating his death relentlessly, trying to uncover the truth. Though her efforts had yet to bear fruit, she did have one suspect—Princess Consort Mu Lin.

After all, the ninth level of the Scroll Hall was a forbidden zone, only accessible with a secret jade token. One such token had been in her eldest brother’s possession. But he would never kill his own brother. So Wu Yao suspected that Mu Lin was the one who murdered her third brother—or at the very least, that she was deeply involved in it.

Just then, the heavy sound of armored footsteps echoed from outside the hall.

Thud. Thud. Thud. Thud…

The nobles turned to look—

A man clad in black and gold ceremonial armor strode into the hall, flanked by ten figures—each of them one of the Ten Great Generals of Junlin, renowned across the Eastern Wilderness.

The man had sword-like brows and eyes like the stars, his features sharp and austere. His tall, powerful frame radiated a ruthless and commanding presence.

The ten figures behind him were none other than the Ten Divine Generals of Junlin, guardians of the imperial dynasty.

“Greetings, Your Highness the Second Prince!”

The gathered nobles and ministers of Junlin bowed in unison, cupping their fists respectfully.

Wu Lintian nodded slightly in acknowledgment. His eyes swept across the crowd—one by one—taking in the faces of the empire’s most powerful courtiers. His gaze even passed over the veiled figure of the “Empress” Mu Lingxi, then over Crown Prince Wu Chen, Princess Consort Mu Lin, Princess Wu Yao…

And at last, his eyes settled on Ning Ye.

A cold smile curved his lips as he spoke—

“Tenth Prince of Yanyun Empire, Ning Ye—”

“Do you realize your crime?”
