- Chapter 20 – Relieving Anger and Saving Lin Qingzhu
The three of them continued their meal, naturally chatting and joking as they ate.
Before long, Luo Ningyu and Murong Wan began targeting Gu Junqing together.
They unanimously demanded that he tell them which of the two was more beautiful.
This immediately put Gu Junqing in a difficult position. After all, he considered himself a gentleman—how could he casually comment on women’s appearances like some sleazy man on the street?
“Although Xiaowan’s features are a bit more delicate than Ningyu’s, when it comes to figure, well…”
Gu Junqing gave a mischievous smile and suddenly asked Murong Wan a question.
“Xiaowan, how big are you?”
Murong Wan was startled and hesitantly replied, “I’m eighteen years old.”
“No, no, no—that’s not what I meant.”
Gu Junqing wagged his index finger.
He then turned to Luo Ningyu. “Ningyu, how big are you?”
Murong Wan frowned, confused about why her answer had been wrong, and turned to see how Luo Ningyu would respond.
Luo Ningyu lifted her head, straightened her posture, and said proudly, “I’m about the fourth letter of the English alphabet!”
Murong Wan blinked in confusion. “What does the fourth letter mean? A, B, C, D… D?”
Suddenly, realization struck her.
She screamed and began hitting Gu Junqing.
“Now I get it—you pervert!”
Luo Ningyu had already lowered her head, her shoulders trembling as she tried to suppress her laughter.
Seeing Murong Wan’s fists flying toward him, Gu Junqing only smiled faintly.
He calmly accepted the blows against his chest, then stretched out an arm and pulled Murong Wan into his embrace.
In a low, magnetic voice, he whispered by her ear, “Even if you’re only the second letter, I still like it very much.”
Murong Wan’s face instantly flushed red. She hurriedly pushed herself out of his arms.
“Hmph! Don’t think I’ll forgive you that easily!” she muttered softly, almost like the buzz of a mosquito, before sitting down to continue eating.
At that moment, a commotion outside interrupted their meal.
Luo Ningyu frowned. She thought she heard a girl crying. Naturally kind-hearted, she couldn’t sit still.
“Let’s go take a look,” she suggested.
Everyone agreed.
Gu Junqing’s eyes showed understanding—he already knew what was happening.
As soon as they stepped outside, they saw a middle-aged man pointing angrily at his soup-stained clothes while scolding a young waitress.
“Are you blind? Repeat after me: Hermès!”
He pointed at the brand logo on his clothes, his gaze fixed on the exceptionally beautiful young waitress before him.
His anger had already faded. Looking at her delicate appearance, another thought arose.
“If she compensates me with herself, that’d be perfect… hehehe.”
“I’m sorry, sir! I’m really sorry! I’ll pay for it!” the waitress cried anxiously.
She was none other than Lin Qingzhu.
She simply couldn’t afford the compensation. Her brother Lin Tian attended an expensive school, and she saved every penny while working part-time to support his education. The clothes clearly cost a fortune—far beyond what she could pay.
Seeing such a fairy-like girl reduced to tears, many customers felt sympathetic and began criticizing the middle-aged man for being too harsh.
But the man sneered fearlessly.
“Then why don’t you pay for it? This costs tens of thousands!”
He pointed at one of the onlookers, who immediately lowered his head and fell silent. No one was willing to spend tens of thousands for a stranger.
The man snorted smugly.
Turning back to Lin Qingzhu, he said with a greasy smile, “Pay up, or don’t even think about leaving! Come home with me!”
Lin Qingzhu stood there crying helplessly, unsure what to do. She didn’t dare call her brother—she didn’t want him to worry.
Suddenly, a voice rang out.
“I’ll pay.”
Everyone turned toward the speaker.
It was Gu Junqing.
With a cold expression, he walked forward, followed by Luo Ningyu and Murong Wan.
As Gu Junqing approached the man, the two girls hurried to Lin Qingzhu’s side.
The middle-aged man’s expression shifted. “Are you really willing to spend tens of thousands to bail this girl out?”
Gu Junqing’s face turned icy. Without warning, he slapped the man across the face.
“You call her a little girl, yet you want her to go home with you?”
The man was sent sprawling to the ground.
He instantly lost all arrogance, realizing he had met someone far more ruthless.
Gu Junqing grabbed him by the hair, dragged him upright, pulled a bank card from his pocket, and slapped it against the man’s face.
“There’s 100,000 yuan on this card. I’m buying every piece of clothing you’re wearing. Is that enough?”
He released him and tossed the card onto his body.
Though disappointed he hadn’t gotten what he wanted, the man was thrilled to earn tens of thousands instead.
“It’s enough! Enough!” he stammered, quickly picking up the card and preparing to leave.
But Gu Junqing spoke again.
“Didn’t you hear me? I said every piece of clothing. Strip. All of it. Otherwise, don’t even think about leaving this restaurant.”
He returned the man’s earlier threat word for word.
The man’s face turned pale. Trembling, he began removing his clothes.
Seeing this, Gu Junqing quickly told Luo Ningyu and Murong Wan to take Lin Qingzhu back to their private room.
The surrounding customers watched with satisfaction as the man stripped naked. Many even took out their phones to record the scene.
After removing everything, the man stood exposed under countless gazes, filled with regret for his earlier lustful thoughts.
By then, Gu Junqing had already left, unwilling to dirty his eyes further.
He had already been angered enough earlier.
Returning toward the private room, he sighed inwardly.
“This really is the work of a novice author. Every day it’s just ‘hero saves the beauty.’ Are there no other tropes?”
He silently complained.
Next time, he vowed, he would try a different approach.
Something like confinement… drugging… or similar.
He let out a laugh that sounded unmistakably sinister.
Back in the private room, Lin Qingzhu was still crying softly while Luo Ningyu and Murong Wan comforted her.
Neither girl worried about Gu Junqing—they trusted him completely and knew he would handle things properly.
They had also been disgusted by the man’s behavior earlier.
“It’s all taken care of,” Gu Junqing said as he sat down with a sigh. “I didn’t let him keep a single piece of clothing.”
Lin Qingzhu raised her tearful face, her smile pure and gentle despite the tears.
Still sniffling, she thanked Gu Junqing softly.
Gu Junqing had to admit—his heart was completely captivated.
