- Chapter 32: The Law Enforcer Ling Shuangya
Lin Tian couldn’t believe that all his deeds had been exposed. Staring blankly at Gu Junqing’s actions, he kept muttering “demon, demon” under his breath.
Gu Junqing cast a disgusted glance at him. Who the real demon was couldn’t have been clearer—no further explanation was needed.
Lin Qingzhu still couldn’t accept that she wasn’t her brother’s biological sister. She looked at Gu Junqing with pleading eyes, hoping he would give her an explanation.
“You’re not the biological daughter of Lin Tian’s parents. You were trafficked by them. When you were very young, they took you out during an outing and thought you were adorable, so they decided to steal you and raise you as their son’s child bride.”
Gu Junqing calmly revealed the information he had spent considerable resources investigating over the past few days.
The original novel had mentioned this as well, though Lin Tian and Lin Qingzhu only discovered it much later in the story. Lin Tian had been overjoyed back then to learn she wasn’t his biological sister. The original novel had glossed over how Lin Qingzhu was stolen by Lin Tian’s parents, clearly to cover up their evil deeds.
“Like father, like son. Parents who would steal another’s child would naturally produce a son like you—someone who fantasizes about his own sister,” Gu Junqing said with utter disgust.
Lin Qingzhu couldn’t believe it either—that the people she had called parents for years had stolen her from her real family. All these years, everything around her had been false. She had been living a lie. Even if Lin Tian hadn’t known, what disgusted her most was that he had lusted after his own sister.
Lin Qingzhu buried her face in Gu Junqing’s chest. She didn’t want to face this filthy world anymore. To discover after more than ten years that everything around you was fake—a lie—one could imagine how devastating this was for her.
Gu Junqing held her tightly, his heart aching for her. He had always admired this strong young woman. Even in the original novel, when Lin Tian discovered she wasn’t his biological sister and pursued her relentlessly, she never yielded. Her resilience and moral compass were qualities he deeply appreciated.
Of course, this didn’t include her looks and figure—if those were factored in, it wouldn’t just be admiration, but deep love!
Lin Tian looked incredulous, unwilling to believe any of this. How could his family and world collapse like this in just one day?
Tears streaming down his face, Lin Tian roared, “Gu Junqing! You’ve already taken my women, taken my abilities! Why? Why must you take my family and my sister too? Why?!”
“Because this is who you are. Brave enough to do it, but too cowardly to face the consequences? If you do something, you must bear the corresponding outcomes!” Gu Junqing said coldly.
“Let me share with you a saying I particularly like.”
“As long as you don’t lose your nobility, the whole world will open up to you.”
This was why Gu Junqing cherished his reputation so much, ensuring all public discourse about him remained positive. When people mentioned him, they would think of radiance and brilliance—just as butterflies are naturally drawn to blooming flowers.
But behind the scenes, he would stop at nothing to achieve his goals. He wouldn’t pity anyone—anyone who threatened him would be eliminated.
Lin Tian’s current behavior had diverged too far from the original novel. Driven by Gu Junqing’s pressure, he had skipped classes, gambled, grown increasingly negative, and his relationships with those around him had deteriorated further.
Those who stand for justice receive abundant support; those who do not receive little. It could be said that Gu Junqing had already calculated everything in advance. He accurately predicted every move Lin Tian would make, understanding him as clearly as he understood himself.
Thus, Lin Tian’s defeat was no injustice—it was simply his misfortune to have Gu Junqing as his opponent.
Just as Gu Junqing was about to end Lin Tian’s life, he realized he had already cleared out the entire casino. Everyone present was on his side, so he had no reservations.
But Lin Qingzhu tugged at the corner of his clothes, her eyes brimming with tears yet still clear and untainted by the world. She hadn’t given up on herself despite Lin Tian’s despicable actions and the falseness of her life.
“Can you please not kill him? After all, he’s been a part of my life for a long time.”
Gu Junqing saw his own reflection in her clear eyes and sighed. “Alright, I’ll spare his life.”
“Baldy, call the police. Report him for organizing illegal gambling and attempted murder. That should be enough to keep him locked up for life.”
Gu Junqing spoke to the bodyguard who had always served as his driver, then quietly added by his ear, “Make sure he’s taken care of inside. I don’t want him showing up again.”
After saying this, Gu Junqing carried Lin Qingzhu and left first. He didn’t want her to remain in this sorrowful environment any longer, so he decided to have the place shut down entirely.
“Understood, young master.” Baldy acknowledged the order and instructed the others to return to their posts.
Wiping sweat from his forehead, Baldy recalled the moment Lin Tian had swung a knife at the young master. The thought still terrified him—if Gu Junqing had been injured, he likely wouldn’t have survived either.
Driven by this fear, Baldy delivered a fierce kick, breaking Lin Tian’s leg and sending him crashing to the ground. He then crushed Lin Tian’s hand bones under his foot, the sheer force revealing his formidable strength.
“If the young master hadn’t ordered me to spare your life for now, I’d finish you off right here,” Baldy growled, pressing his foot against Lin Tian’s head.
Lin Tian had long since passed out from the pain, leaving him completely at Baldy’s mercy.
Not long after, several police cars arrived with sirens blaring.
Baldy handed Lin Tian over to them, and the law enforcers proceeded to seal off the entire venue.
Among them was an exceptionally beautiful female law enforcer. She had dark, luminous eyes as clear as water, elegantly arched eyebrows, and a finely sculpted nose. Her face, free of any makeup, was naturally lovely and striking. Her uniform accentuated a valiant and spirited demeanor, while her slender figure showed not an ounce of excess weight. She carried herself with remarkable vitality.
This law enforcer was named Ling Shuangya. True to her name, she was as cold as frost in her duties, showing no leniency, yet she carried herself with an innate elegance.
Ling Shuangya approached Baldy and asked, “Hello, are you the one who reported the incident?”
Baldy recounted the events to her, being careful to share only what was appropriate while omitting the rest.
“Oh, is this about Gu Junqing, the one known as the ‘Little Heavenly Noble’ of Luodu?”
“I’ve heard he consistently ranks first in academics across Luodu, comes from the prestigious Gu family, and is so handsome he’s considered divine. No wonder the youth of Luodu regard him as an idol.”
Ling Shuangya exclaimed in admiration.
“And he abides by the law—what a fine young man!”
Ling Shuangya detested how scions of influential families often took matters into their own hands, making people disappear without a trace, while many law enforcers could do nothing about it. It surprised her that Gu Junqing had chosen to involve the authorities and let the law handle the situation.
“There are fewer and fewer scions of noble families like Gu Junqing these days,” Ling Shuangya silently praised.
Even though she hadn’t met him yet, Ling Shuangya already held a slight favor toward him—such was the power of reputation.
