Gu Junqing felt somewhat speechless upon seeing the items he had drawn.

Only three of them were useful: a copy of the Yellow Emperor’s Inner Canon, 60 Combat Points, and 10 Charm Points. However, after checking the Yellow Emperor’s Inner Canon, he still couldn’t figure out its specific uses.

Still, it wasn’t bad at all. Whether it was his Combat Points increasing to 100 or his Charm Points reaching 100, both played a crucial role in his upcoming plans.

With the improvement in combat power, he felt not only stronger physically but also mentally sharper, achieving a state of mental clarity.

The increase in Charm Points brought subtle changes to his facial features, making him even more strikingly handsome. His fair and clean face now carried a chiseled, cold handsomeness; his deep, dark eyes shimmered with an enchanting brilliance; his thick eyebrows, tall nose, and perfectly shaped lips all contributed to his allure. Even his temperament was undergoing a transformation—the former gloominess had dissipated, replaced by an aura of nobility and elegance.

Gu Junqing opened his panel:

【Host: Gu Junqing】
【Combat Points: 100 (Average person: 5)】
【Charm Points: 100 (Peak of the mortal world)】
【Villain Luck: 150】
【Villain Points: 0】
【Cultivation Method: Yellow Emperor’s Inner Canon】

Seeing his Villain Points reset to zero, Gu Junqing felt a sense of urgency. It seemed he needed to plan how to reap another round of benefits.

This time, dealing a blow to Lin Tian had yielded substantial gains and gave him a glimmer of hope that he could defeat the protagonist.

It appeared that fate still had some sense of balance and hadn’t absurdly allowed the protagonist to escape unscathed.

Moreover, the rewards brought by the female leads were even greater than those from undermining the protagonist. This suggested that he should engage more with the various female leads in the future. However, since he hadn’t encountered many of them yet, he decided to leave that for later.

As for whether the word “later” was a verb or a noun, those in the know would understand.

In many urban-themed stories, it wasn’t just the female leads who stole the spotlight—many supporting female characters were also highly favored.

And by Murong Wan’s side was one such exceptional supporting female character: Luo Ningyu.

She was Murong Wan’s best friend and had considerable screen time in the original story. Initially, she looked down on Lin Tian, but after being saved by him in an accident, she began to admire him and actively persuaded Murong Wan to do the same.

In the original story, Luo Ningyu played a significant role in Murong Wan’s affection for Lin Tian. Her appearance was also described in detail.

In Gu Junqing’s eyes, Luo Ningyu was indeed a girl not far inferior to Murong Wan. She possessed a pair of captivating peach-blossom eyes, with a crimson beauty mark between her willow-leaf eyebrows. Her bright eyes, filled with tender emotions, seemed to drift like duckweed on water, radiating countless shimmering lights. Her dark hair cascaded like a clear pond, loosely draped over her right shoulder and tied casually with a deep purple ribbon. Despite the minimal adornments, her face, reminiscent of a jade flower, appeared even more radiant and delicate. She was a rare beauty, almost on par with Murong Wan.

The school bell rang, and students streamed out of the campus in a bustling crowd.

Luo Ningyu also stepped out of the school gate. Usually, she was picked up and dropped off by a driver, but today, due to an unexpected situation, the driver couldn’t come. She had no choice but to head home on her own.

Walking along, she thought, Gu Junqing looked so handsome today! Especially when he helped Murong Wan. I wish he liked me too. Luo Ningyu felt a bit dejected. She couldn’t compare to Murong Wan in any aspect—whether in studies or appearance—and fell short by a margin. The gap between her and Gu Junqing was even wider. Every time she saw him, she felt a sense of inferiority, believing she wasn’t good enough for him.

Gu Junqing was following Luo Ningyu from behind. According to the original story, Luo Ningyu would be rescued by Lin Tian today, sparking a connection that would gradually draw her closer to Lin Tian. Now was the perfect opportunity for him to swoop in and save Luo Ningyu before Lin Tian could.

As he followed, he spotted three thugs whose eyes lit up at the sight of Luo Ningyu. Gu Junqing didn’t step in immediately because hope gained at the darkest moment of despair is the most precious.

“But this girl Luo Ningyu is quite clever—she knows to run faster,” Gu Junqing chuckled lightly.

Luo Ningyu clearly noticed someone following her. She quickened her pace, trying to head toward a crowded area, her fingers tightening around her phone as she prepared to make a call. However, her speed was no match for the three men.

Just as she was about to exit the alley, she was cornered inside, and her phone was snatched away by one of the tall men.

The leader, sporting a flashy hairstyle and a heavily powdered face, whistled and teased Luo Ningyu, “Hey girl, why run so fast? Come on, give us a smile.”

Luo Ningyu scanned her surroundings—no pedestrians in sight, her only lifeline, her phone, taken, and no weapon to be found. She felt utterly helpless. After all, she was just a pitiful high school girl.

Just as despair began to set in, Gu Junqing appeared.

Gu Junqing felt somewhat resigned because he had seen Lin Tian approaching the area and had to act first to rescue her.

Luo Ningyu watched as Gu Junqing strode forward radiantly, bathed in sunlight and enveloped in a golden halo, like a celestial being walking toward her. Each step he took seemed to resonate in her heart, stirring ripples that would never settle again.

As he drew closer, her heart raced uncontrollably, and she shouted, “Classmate Gu, run! Go get help!”

Gu Junqing felt a mix of emotions, touched that this silly girl was still thinking of him even in her own crisis.

The three thugs quickly surrounded them both, eyeing Gu Junqing and muttering to themselves, “This one’s a cash cow—the accessories on him must be worth at least millions.”

The leader snarled, “Pretty boy, trying to play the hero? Strip down! Let’s see what valuables you’ve got! If we’re satisfied, we’ll let you go. Otherwise, you’ll be lying on the ground!”

Gu Junqing, originally conflicted, nearly laughed. This cliché Mary Sue plot—was it the original author’s twisted sense of humor? These three were downright ridiculous, clearly written just to build up Lin Tian’s image in the original story.

He didn’t bother with words. With his current combat power of 100, dealing with these thugs was hardly more difficult than crushing a few ants—a true dimensional downgrade strike.

Sure enough, in no time at all, the three small-time thugs were left lying on the ground, groaning in pain—and this was with Gu Junqing holding back. If he were to strike with his full strength now, crippling someone would be effortless.

After the fight, Luo Ningyu stared at him in a daze, which Gu Junqing found rather endearing.

Luo Ningyu stammered, “G-Gu Junqing, how are you so incredible?”

“Because the thought of a beautiful girl possibly being in danger unleashed my hidden potential,” Gu Junqing teased, feeling a bit mischievous toward the adorable girl.

Luo Ningyu could only blush and mumble a thank you, secretly pleased that he thought she was beautiful.

“Let’s go. I’ll walk you home.”

“Mm, okay!”

Under the glow of the setting sun, the two walked away side by side, their shadows stretching long behind them. The girl’s shadow bobbed slightly, as if trying to draw closer to the boy’s.

Not long after, Lin Tian passed by the spot and noticed the three figures groaning on the ground before leaving. Yet he felt an inexplicable emptiness inside, as if something were missing.
