It’s not that playing a male character isn’t fun, but playing a female character offers better cost-performance.

Actually, Chen Xiaoxin didn’t want to become a trap character, nor did he want to use a voice changer. However, he had no choice. Once he discovered that slacking off in-game could earn him points, he’d walked down the path of low-effort team content.

However… if you got caught slacking, the consequences could be severe: at best, you’ll be fined in-game currency; at worst, you’ll be kicked out of the whole team.

Eventually, Chen Xiaoxin started playing a female character, and not just any female character, but the most popular priestess class among girls. To eliminate any doubts, he even used a voice changer.

Of course, his conscience was often troubled. Several times, he thought about quitting the team. Once, he even went to the guild leader and expressed his desire to leave, but the leader absolutely refused, insisting on keeping him. In the eyes of the guild leader and the team members, Chen Xiaoxin was simply a sweet girl.

With Chen Xiaoxin’s arrival, the male members of the team went crazy, each one calling out “Sister Ling’er” and immediately handing out potions, food, whatever was needed. In an instant, all pre-raid prep was done.

“This is the new tank. From now on, they’ll be joining our raid group.”

The raid leader’s voice came through the voice chat as he introduced the new warrior.

But considering Chen Xiaoxin’s “skill level,” the new tank wouldn’t be assigned to him for healing. They gave that job to another priest instead.

“Oh, cool, cool.”

Chen Xiaoxin responded casually, his in-game character hopping like mad on the city streets, hammering the spacebar.

“Sneaky Thief, Watch My Blade”?

That username…it had to belong to a female player, right?

Chen Xiaoxin stared at the name of the new warrior in the party UI, grumbling internally.

…

Soon, the whole party arrived at the dungeon.

After a quick task assignment, they began their usual steamroll.

Chen Xiaoxin’s team was top-tier on the server—they could breeze through both mobs and bosses.

Everyone chatted and laughed while casually mowing down enemies.

As for Chen Xiaoxin…he randomly tapped a few healing skills while watching short videos on the side, slacking off.

Of course, his points were racking up like crazy. After all, raid nights earned way more points than just spacing out during class. Unfortunately, there were only two raid nights a week.

Then—

He received a private message in-game.

It was from that new warrior.

[Sneaky Thief, Watch My Blade]: “Stop slacking! You’re dead last in healing!”

He did tap a few more skills after that…

But let’s be real—it didn’t help much.

Moments later, the raid leader opened mic: “Sneaky Rogue, that blood elf priest named Ling’er isn’t very skilled, don’t mind it. Just focus on tanking the small monsters. I’ll assign another healer to help you.”

Oh?

Reporting me behind my back?

Chen Xiaoxin didn’t expect that the new warrior would report his slacking behavior on the first day. Clearly, this person can’t be allowed to stick around.

After two hours of speed-clearing, they finally reached the final boss.

All the goofing around from earlier vanished. This gatekeeper boss actually had some challenge to it. Everyone got serious.

Everyone except Chen Xiaoxin, who was still spaced out and totally clueless.

He had run this boss fight tons of times, but to this day he had no idea what skills the boss actually used.

Every single time, as soon as the fight started, he was the first to die.

Then he’d just wait for someone to revive him after the boss was dead.

This time was no different.

In less than a minute, Chen Xiaoxin’s character had bitten the dust. Worse still—he had accidentally dragged the new warrior down with him.

Fortunately, the other members of the team were strong enough. Despite losing two players, they still managed to defeat the boss with sheer determination.

“Don’t worry, Ling’er, we’ll get it next time!”
“Wow, Ling’er, you hit a million healing! Amazing! You’ve improved!”
“Ling’er is awesome!”

No one blamed Chen Xiaoxin for his death. In fact, they all rushed to comfort and praise him.

But the new warrior?

“Sneaky Rogue, that mistake was on you. A tank shouldn’t be standing there. Be more careful next time, or you’ll get fined.”
“Your mechanics could use some work.”
“Looks like your gear isn’t great either. Here, take this shield.”

After the two weekly raids ended, everyone went their separate ways. Chen Xiaoxin logged off the voice chat and was about to log off his character when he received another private message from the new warrior.

[Sneaky Thief, Watch My Blade]: “You’re the one who got me killed!”

What now?
You want revenge?

Chen Xiaoxin rolled his eyes and quickly typed a response.

Then he logged off without hesitation. Plugged in his power bank, burrowed under the covers, and went straight to sleep.

…

The next morning.

Chen Xiaoxin arrived early at the classroom with his fully charged power bank and breakfast. He began distributing things to everyone. Just as he finished, he saw Yan Xiaoxi walk in, but today she seemed a bit tired, almost like she hadn’t fully woken up.

“What’s wrong?”

“You look a bit dazed,” Chen Xiaoxin asked, showing concern.

Yan Xiaoxi pursed her lips and replied calmly, “I played a game last night and encountered a psycho. That person made me so angry I couldn’t sleep.”

“Oh.”

“So that’s why,” Chen Xiaoxin said.

He shrugged, took out some dumplings from his bag, opened the chopsticks, and picked one up. While eating, he said, “Hurry up and tell me your tragic encounter, so I can be amused.”

“Get lost!”

Yan Xiaoxi rolled her eyes and said irritably, “Stop trying to make fun of me. I’m in a bad mood right now.”

“Fine, fine,” Chen Xiaoxin said, continuing to eat the dumplings while playing on his phone, completely ignoring her.

Yan Xiaoxi sat down and flipped through the book she had from yesterday. Suddenly, she asked, “Are you playing World of Warcraft?”

“Yeah. You play too?”

Chen Xiaoxin looked at her, curious.

“Um.”

Yan Xiaoxi nodded, continuing to flip through her book, and answered, “Last night, I was in a dungeon, and some psycho got me killed. Then people questioned my skills.”

“Really?”

“How coincidental!”

“Last night, I got someone killed,” Chen Xiaoxin said as he took out a cup of sweet soy milk and took a few sips, then continued, “Our team got a new warrior. It was his first time raiding with us, and when we got to the final boss, I got him killed.”

Upon hearing this, Yan Xiaoxi shuddered, her eyes wide with shock, her expression one of disbelief and surprise, as though she was caught off guard.

“W-Which region are you on?”

“Region 1.”

“What server?”

“Frostmourne.”

“Alliance or Horde? What race? What class?”

“Blood Elf Priest.”

“What’s your character’s name?”

“Ling’er Has Heals.”

At that moment, Yan Xiaoxi’s eyes blazed with fury, her lips trembling with anger, her chest heaving violently. She was absolutely furious.

“So it was you!!”
