Golden light? Buddha’s light? Or holy light? Actually, it’s just the reflection of sunlight.

Yan Xiaoxi secretly looked at him, observing this annoying slacker. Suddenly, she felt he wasn’t such a bad person after all. Although he was a parasite in the class, a capitalist who took advantage of others without hesitation, he was also a very kind person.

“Why are you looking at me?”

Chen Xiaoxin, who had accidentally noticed his deskmate sneaking glances at him, curiously asked.

Caught red-handed, Yan Xiaoxi was flustered and quickly shifted her gaze. She replied indifferently, “Who’s looking at you? What’s so special about you? I was looking at the playground outside. What does it have to do with you? Don’t overthink it.”

She’s still pretending she wasn’t looking at me, but she’s all defensive!

Chen Xiaoxin frowned and couldn’t help but wonder if this new transfer student had developed a crush on him.

“Chen Xiaoxin.”

“Uh?”

“The way you’re helping Xu Bin, but he might not understand your actions. On the contrary, he might resent you,” Yan Xiaoxi said softly while flipping through a book. “I think you should let him know your intentions. This way, you can clear up the misunderstanding and motivate him to study harder.”

Chen Xiaoxin shrugged and pulled out a chocolate bar from his desk, unwrapping it and eating a piece without a care. “Whether he studies hard or not, that’s not my problem. I just did what I needed to do. What he thinks is up to him.”

“…”

“Don’t you feel uncomfortable being misunderstood for no reason?” Yan Xiaoxi turned her head to look at him seriously.

Chen Xiaoxin smiled and casually said, “Isn’t being misunderstood pretty normal? Forget other people misunderstanding you—sometimes, you even misunderstand yourself. Like, you think you can solo the enemy team, and boom, they reverse-kill you. Or you think the bush is empty, and then suddenly Garen comes spinning out of it.”

Yan Xiaoxi froze for a moment, then turned back to her book, softly muttering, “Indeed… sometimes when people misunderstand you, it’s better not to explain. If someone chooses not to believe you, even if you explain, they still won’t trust you.”

“Ohhh~”

“Look who’s leveling up in wisdom,” Chen Xiaoxin smiled widely and then offered her a piece of chocolate. “Want some?”

Yan Xiaoxi rolled her eyes but accepted the chocolate. After unwrapping it, she slowly put it in her mouth. Just then, Chen Xiaoxin, still sitting next to her, carefully said: “Since you ate my chocolate, can you help me charge two power banks?”

The next second, Yan Xiaoxi turned around and spat the chocolate out of her mouth, “Get lost!”

She glared at him fiercely, her eyes full of naked anger.

Damn you, bastard!

You’ll never be forgiven in this lifetime!

Yan Xiaoxi was about to explode with rage. This guy was full of tricks. One wrong move, and she would fall into his trap. Meanwhile, she also learned a valuable lesson from this experience: every word from Chen Xiaoxin in the future would require extreme caution and vigilance!

Otherwise, it would be easy to fall for his tricks!

Although both Chen Xiaoxin and Yan Xiaoxi were day students, they still had to attend evening self-study sessions.

However, the evening self-study in senior year mostly consisted of lectures or exams. This time was no exception. The chemistry teacher was going off on the platform while Chen Xiaoxin was off on his own mission. At that moment, he was playing a solo round of PUBG, just having jumped out of the plane and now scavenging for supplies.

Yan Xiaoxi secretly looked at him, watching him get headshot after headshot, and couldn’t help but feel a sliver of doubt. Is this guy using hacks?

At that moment!

The chemistry teacher suddenly noticed something and stormed down from the podium with a dark expression.

Yan Xiaoxi was startled and quickly elbowed him, whispering, “The teacher’s coming!”

After saying that, she regretted it immensely.

I… I’m crazy! I actually warned him!

At this moment, Yan Xiaoxi almost wanted to slap herself. She had been itching to report him, yet here she was, warning him.

“It’s fine. He’s not here to catch me.”

Chen Xiaoxin tucked his phone between his legs and sat up properly, thanking her in a voice so faint it was almost like a whisper. “Thank you.”

In response to Chen Xiaoxin’s gratitude, Yan Xiaoxi felt indifferent. On the contrary, she was filled with regret, her face turning red with shame. She took a deep breath, trying to calm her emotions.

“Do you even know your own grades?”

“Not paying attention in class and sneaking around playing with your phone, do you think I’m blind?” The chemistry teacher was standing beside a student, scolding him with a stern face. “Although Chen Xiaoxin’s grades aren’t the best, he’s always serious in class. I’ve never criticized him. But you? What’s your attitude?”

As the teacher spoke, Chen Xiaoxin’s back straightened even more.

Yan Xiaoxi glanced at the chemistry teacher, then at her deskmate, feeling her face twitch.

After that, the chemistry teacher confiscated the student’s phone and returned to teaching.

Soon, the first chemistry class ended. Yan Xiaoxi watched as Chen Xiaoxin stood up and walked towards the chemistry teacher. The two of them were chatting and laughing at the podium, but what happened next left Yan Xiaoxi stunned.

She saw the chemistry teacher actually hand the confiscated phone to Chen Xiaoxin!

Then, Chen Xiaoxin walked out of the classroom, and the student whose phone had been confiscated sneaked out through the back door.

Something’s going on!

Yan Xiaoxi left her seat, wanting to see what was happening.

“Godfather!”

“In the next life, I’ll work for you like an ox or a horse!”

The student took his phone back, holding Chen Xiaoxin’s hand tightly, his face filled with gratitude.

“I told you to be more careful. Don’t forget where you’re sitting; aren’t you just giving the chemistry teacher a reason to notice?” Chen Xiaoxin said, annoyed. “Fine, fine, I got your phone back, but if this happens again, I won’t help you next time.”

“Yes, yes, yes!”

“Godfather, don’t worry. I’ll be obedient,” the student said seriously.

“By the way…” Chen Xiaoxin lowered his voice and asked quietly, “I heard you wanted to report me, saying I was making money off the class?”

“…”

“Rumor! It’s definitely a rumor!” The student quickly shook his head, replying seriously, “I’m not like that!”

“Hmm. I believe you!” Chen Xiaoxin smiled.

After the student left, Chen Xiaoxin was about to return to the classroom when suddenly, a voice came from behind.

“Chen Xiaoxin!”

Chen Xiaoxin jumped in surprise and quickly turned around to find Yan Xiaoxi standing in the corner, staring at him intently.

“I heard everything,” Yan Xiaoxi said bluntly.

“Oh, actually, it’s nothing.” Chen Xiaoxin responded calmly, “In this broken world, someone has to patch things up.”

Upon hearing her deskmate’s words, Yan Xiaoxi’s temples began to throb.

Do you believe I’ll punch you twice?!
