Peering inward with his divine sense, Ye Lingyun fixed his gaze on the Lüxian Sword suspended above his heart lake, an involuntary twitch pulling at the corner of his mouth—there was a hint of speechlessness.

He hadn’t expected to snatch this demonic sword out from under someone else.

However, this Lüxian Sword seemed deeply entwined with karma, and was something the Nine Provinces could not easily tolerate. It was not something to be used lightly under normal circumstances.

And then, that fat Daoist…

As he thought of that mysterious Daoist, the look in Ye Lingyun’s ink-black eyes grew even more solemn.

This person could tame a flood dragon for amusement, and wield the Lüxian Sword. His cultivation was profound and full of trickery, clearly not an easy adversary.

Now that the Lüxian Sword had fallen into his hands, the fat Daoist would certainly come looking for it.

Thoughts whirled in his mind, and a sudden sense of danger surged within him, causing him to slowly clench his fists.

He was still not strong enough.

In the presence of such powerful beings, he had no means of resisting…

….

That night, in the imperial bedroom, Empress Chu Xi and Ye Lingyun lay down together as usual.

A slender, snow-white arm habitually wrapped around his neck from behind. Chu Xi’s other hand was busy atop Ye Lingyun’s head, ruffling his hair wildly until it was a disheveled mess.

Seeing that she was still playful late into the night, Ye Lingyun couldn’t help but roll his eyes at the woman beside him.

“Heh heh heh, little guy still mad at big sister, huh?”

Seeing his reaction, Chu Xi covered her lips to stifle a laugh, then slowly leaned closer.

Her graceful figure exuded a sweet fragrance. Beneath her loose golden dress, her long, slender legs crossed elegantly; her jade-like feet were as flawless as uncut gems, natural and pristine.

“Please, I’m already eighteen, not a little guy anymore.” Ye Lingyun said helplessly.

Upon hearing this, Chu Xi raised her delicate brows and smiled mischievously, “Hehe, yes, the little guy has grown up.”

“Don’t worry, sister will take you into the harem soon enough.”

With that, she slipped her arm through his and planted a fierce kiss, leaving a bright red mark on Ye Lingyun’s cheek.

…

Time passed swiftly.

Two years later…

Above the vast sky of Northern Province, clouds churned, and four streaks of light sped through the air.

As they reached the end of the horizon, a range of towering, majestic mountains appeared. The speed of the streaks of light gradually slowed, revealing the figures of one man and three women.

The man wore a blue robe, with sword-like brows and starry eyes. His expression was calm, and he was tall and handsome, his posture upright like a pine tree, exuding an extraordinary demeanor.

The three women by his side were all stunningly beautiful, their skirts flying in the wind, their figures elegant and graceful, each radiating a different kind of charm.

Two of them, in particular, resembled each other so much that they seemed like perfect works of art crafted by the heavens.

These individuals were Ye Lingyun, the sisters Liu Ruohong and Liu Ruoxue, and Xue Yi.

They had come to Northern Province to journey to the sacred Mount Shu, to participate in the famous event in the Nine Provinces—the Sword Forest of Mount Shu!

“I’ve heard that the Sword Forest of Mount Shu is open to cultivators from all over the world to choose a sword.”

“But this time, Mount Shu has already announced that only cultivators under the age of thirty will be allowed to enter.”

“With this restriction, the number of people entering the Sword Forest will certainly decrease, which works to our advantage.”

Liu Ruoxue fluttered through the air, smiling lightly as she spoke. Liu Ruohong, smiling as well, nodded and added softly, “Yes, and I received a message a few days ago—Master is already waiting for us at Mount Shu.”

Upon hearing this, Ye Lingyun’s gaze immediately sharpened, and a sense of nervousness surged in his heart.

His mother had gone to Mount Shu?

Was he about to meet her?

Now, after twenty years, he was finally going to meet the biological mother who had cruelly abandoned him. His emotions were undoubtedly complicated.

However, soon, these complicated feelings were buried deep inside his heart.

After years of tempering and experience, his emotional stability had grown considerably, and he already had a plan for how to deal with those irresponsible parents.

After a while, as they continued their journey, Ye Lingyun’s gaze grew deep once again.

He thought back to two years ago, when he had killed the black-scaled flood dragon by the Wu River and met that fat Daoist.

In the two years since, the Daoist had not appeared, nor had he come to claim the Lüxian Sword.

Given his profound cultivation, finding someone and retrieving a sword would surely not be difficult. So why hadn’t he appeared? There was something odd about it.

But since the Daoist hadn’t come looking, Ye Lingyun was content to take this opportunity to continue his intense training, so that when he faced him again, he’d be more confident in his abilities.

Around three hours later, the four of them finally reached the foot of Mount Shu.

At this point, the foot of the sacred mountain was packed with people, bustling and crowded, with long lines formed outside the mountain gates.

Among them were many highly skilled cultivators, exuding strong pressure and impressive power.

The guests were escorted by disciples of Mount Shu, ascending the stone steps in an orderly fashion toward the mountain summit.

Despite the orderliness, the overwhelming number of people caused delays, and many were left waiting at the foot of the mountain. Some who had been waiting for a long time grew impatient, but they dared not act out toward Mount Shu, so they vented their frustration on others.

Arguments broke out frequently, but soon, Mount Shu’s disciples arrived to intervene, preventing any major disturbances.

However, Ye Lingyun’s group had no such problems.

Xue Yi, who had once been a disciple of Mount Shu and the top student among the younger generation, was very familiar with everything here. She simply revealed their identities to the disciples guarding the mountain gates, and they were allowed to pass without issue, all while receiving respectful gazes.

As they reached the mountain peak, Ye Lingyun slowed his pace and his pupils slightly shifted.

At the end of his line of sight, a peerless figure slowly emerged at the top of the stone stairs.

Her black hair cascaded like a waterfall, and her white gown shone as brightly as snow. After twenty years, Qin Yao’s appearance was unchanged, her perfect face still free from any trace of aging. Her temperament, however, had become even more serene and noble.

“Master, we’re here,” Liu Ruohong and her sister happily ran to Qin Yao, respectfully bowing.

Qin Yao smiled and nodded. Her gaze shifted to Ye Lingyun, and an inexplicable ripple passed through her beautiful eyes.

Liu Ruohong quickly introduced Ye Lingyun and Xue Yi’s identities, especially mentioning how Ye Lingyun had saved them by slaying the flood dragon by the Wu River two years ago.

When she heard that Ye Lingyun’s name was “Ye Tian,” Qin Yao was visibly moved, and once again, she looked at him deeply.

Her stunning face broke into a gentle smile, and she gracefully approached him.

“Hehe, young friend, thank you for saving these two sisters. These two mischievous girls must have caused you a lot of trouble,” she said.

Ye Lingyun shook his head, staring at her face, wanting to say something, but he was at a loss for words.

Finally—they met again.
