Inside the Blood Spirit Sect.

The endless cries of agony made it feel like a descent into hell.

Above, powerful figures kept arriving, encircling the entire area with an impenetrable blockade.

Yan Shan and his group stepped out of the mountain gate, their faces twisted in horror as they looked up.

In an instant, a chill ran down their spines.

The Xuanbird Guards of the Liyue Immortal Dynasty, Liu Piao from the Jade Pool Holy Land, the Eighth Elder from the Primordial Holy Land, and the Pei Family’s Young Sword Saint were all here.

With such forces joining together, what chance did their small Blood Spirit Sect have?

There was no room for resistance.

The strongest in the Blood Spirit Sect were Yan Shan, the sect master, and a single Great Elder, both at the early Integration stage.

But today, the incoming powerhouses, including Zhao Shanhe, were all at the Mahayana realm!

How could they fight that?

And besides these top forces, other sects from Azure Region were also arriving.

Yan Shan’s face was dark, his expression shifting before he sighed deeply, “Heaven has destined our doom, heaven wants to destroy me!”

In that moment, everything turned to dust.

The Blood Spirit Sect was destined to be annihilated; taking revenge on Yan Changkong was now out of the question.

Seeing the dire scene, the elders of Blood Spirit Sect had different reactions. They looked at Yan Shan, their eyes filled with a mix of disbelief and contempt.

They cursed inwardly, thinking if it weren’t for Yan Shan, the Blood Spirit Sect wouldn’t be facing such a disaster.

Yan Shan took a deep breath, his eyes flashing with fierce determination. “Activate the formation! We’ll fight them to the end!”

His gaze swept over the elders, seeing their hesitant expressions. With a chilling look, he sneered, “Do any of you think these people will spare you?”

“If you’re ready to die, then keep watching from the sidelines!”

“But if you want even a slim chance of survival, join me in the fight!”

Yan Shan’s words struck them like a hammer, jolting them awake.

He was right!

If the Blood Spirit Sect didn’t unite now, there was only a certain death ahead. By fighting, there was at least a slim chance of survival.

After all, Yan Shan was the primary target, and amidst the chaos of battle, it would be easier to make an escape.

Boom!

Within the Blood Spirit Sect, powerful auras erupted without restraint.

The spiritual energy surged, and the mountains shook.

Between the mountain peaks, lights from arrays began to shine, linking together to form the sect’s protective barrier.

Finally, the sect-protection formation transformed into a barrier resembling a turtle shell, sealing the Blood Spirit Sect inside.

Any cultivator below the Integration stage who dared to force entry would face severe suppression.

In the sky above, Zhao Shanhe stood atop his Xuan bird, his eyes flashing coldly as he sneered, “Stubborn fools. Kill!”

Whoosh!

As he spoke, he swung his long blade downward, summoning a blade light thousands of meters long in an instant.

The blade’s intent slashed with devastating force, as though tearing through heaven and earth. The space in its path shattered like a mirror, fragmenting into the elements of earth, water, wind, and fire.

Boom!

Bang, bang, bang!

The blade light struck the protective barrier, pausing only for a moment before the sound of continuous explosions echoed.

Crack!

The formation shattered with a resounding crash. Inside the Blood Spirit Sect, countless disciples were struck by the backlash, stumbling backward as they spat blood.

Thud!

One by one, disciples fell to the ground, lifeless.

Yan Shan and the elders were also thrown off balance, retreating dozens of steps, their faces pale. When they looked up again, despair filled their eyes!

Was this the terror of a Mahayana cultivator?

One stroke!

That alone had broken their protective formation.

Zhao Shanhe’s gaze swept over the sect and locked onto Yan Shan. In a deep voice, he declared: “Her Majesty has decreed that you are to be dismembered, your soul refined by true fire, until you die in agony.”

Yan Shan roared, “Whose Majesty? What grudge do I, Yan, have with her?”

Zhao Shanhe replied coldly, “The Empress wants you dead. Do we need a reason?”

Whoosh!

In the next instant, Zhao Shanhe vanished from his position on the Xuan bird and reappeared, reaching out to grab Yan Shan in his hand.

“There is no escape for you!”

The Xuanbird Guards moved as well, each one casting techniques and divine arts that fell like a rain of destruction.

The Xuan birds spat true fire, turning the Blood Spirit Sect into a sea of flames.

These Xuan Birds bore a trace of ancient phoenix bloodline, and their fire was no ordinary flame—compared to the true fire of cultivators, these flames were three times more terrifying.

Their flames could burn through the physical body, soul, and spiritual energy of cultivators, leaving not a single trace.

Meanwhile, seeing that the battle had already begun, members of other factions, such as the Jade Pool Holy Land, jumped into the fray.

They feared that if they delayed any longer, the Xuanbird Guards would claim all the kills.

This was a completely one-sided battle; the Blood Spirit Sect was overwhelmed from the start. They couldn’t even mount a defense, let alone a resistance.

Life after life was reaped, leaving corpses strewn across the land and rivers of blood flowing.

This was a brutal testament to the cruelty of the cultivation world.

For a sect, it wasn’t uncommon to thrive one moment only to be annihilated the next.

The Xuanbird Guards were professionals at tormenting cultivators.

Yan Shan, after falling into Zhao Shanhe’s hands, suffered extreme torment before being killed.

A few hours later…

The battle gradually came to an end. In this one-sided massacre, not a single member of the Blood Spirit Sect survived.

Perhaps only disciples who happened to be away on training missions narrowly escaped.

However, the Blood Spirit Sect was undoubtedly destroyed.

This sect, which had dominated the southern province of Azure Region for tens of thousands of years, had now perished.

Yet—

What was discovered next made everyone present wish they could kill Yan Shan and his followers all over again.

They ground their teeth in fury.

While combing through the battlefield, someone uncovered countless remains of children in a cellar within the Blood Spirit Sect. Some of the mortal children, and even young teens, were still alive, imprisoned and awaiting death.

These surviving mortals were rescued and taken out of the Blood Spirit Sect.

“Monstrous!”

“This cellar was a hidden alchemy chamber. The Blood Spirit Sect used these mortals to refine a certain type of pill!”

“No wonder children and young girls often went missing in nearby cities.”

“The sheer number of bones piled up here—how many lives have they taken?”

“Killing every last member of the Blood Spirit Sect wouldn’t be enough to repay this blood debt!”

Most cultivators were indifferent to life and death.

Killing and plundering treasures were common occurrences in the cultivation world.

But most cultivators respect karmic balance and refrain from slaughtering mortals without cause.

Even among those present—some of whom were ruthless and decisive—indignation stirred within them upon seeing this scene.

What the Blood Spirit Sect had done could only be described as utterly depraved.

Originally, some felt reluctant about slaughtering so many ordinary disciples of the sect.

Now, however, they felt they hadn’t killed enough.

A sect like this, if left to continue, would only bring calamity upon the world.

Yan Changkong clenched his teeth in rage, ultimately channeling his fury into seizing the sect’s precious resources and treasures…

He instructed the Great Elder, Chen Xiu, “Tell the disciples to take everything from the Blood Spirit Sect that can be moved!”

“Even those palaces that can’t be moved—cut them down and transport them in batches!”

Chen Xiu was briefly stunned and asked, “Wouldn’t that make us look overly greedy?”

Yan Changkong’s expression hardened.

“Do you want to leave it here to waste? Do you know what it means to ‘pluck every feather’? Our sect is in a period of rapid growth, so we need to make use of every resource!”

“Even those picturesque mountain peaks—take them with us!”

Chen Xiu: “…”

Though he found the sect master’s actions a bit petty, he knew it was ultimately for the good of the sect.

Without a moment’s delay, Chen Xiu turned and passed on the orders to the disciples.

Clearing the battlefield and collecting spoils was not limited to their own Profound Azure Sect. Many other sects and individual cultivators were also present.

Of course, top-tier forces like the Liyue Immortal Dynasty and the Jade Pool Holy Land couldn’t be bothered to stay and loot. Once they’d finished the fight, they left.

They were eager to get back and read the diary.

This time, there were still two more diary entries that hadn’t been read.

Yet, after this incident, many sect masters couldn’t help but feel a bit afraid.

Hopefully, their sects hadn’t unknowingly offended the Immortal Emperor?

They could only pray that none of their own sect members had been foolish enough to provoke him.

Otherwise, if the diary even casually mentioned them—

They’d end up like the Blood Spirit Sect today, filling their hearts with dread.
