The lawn in front of Hidden Heart Lake.

Jiang Shengyue curled up her legs, eating her lunch box. When she had no early classes or classes were spread throughout the day, she would prepare a lunch box and find a secluded spot at noon to eat with her younger sister.

However, Xiyu had a meeting at noon today, so she was eating here while waiting for her.

Taking a bite of tofu, Jiang Shengyue absentmindedly gazed at the shimmering lake. Because of the message he sent before they parted ways that morning, she was still conflicted about whether to continue wearing her school uniform to school tomorrow.

Before class in the morning, the girls in the class surrounded her, curious about her reason for wearing the school uniform. They praised her, saying it looked great, very feminine, and that it would surely attract more admirers…

Then she jokingly asked, “Do guys prefer me like this now, or when I’m in sportswear?” Most responses leaned towards the school uniform, except for the girls who preferred her in sportswear.

“Do guys all like skirts and stockings?”

Jiang Shengyue muttered to herself, holding her lunch box in her hands, glancing at her crossed legs. The black stockings tightly wrapped around her knees accentuated her fair skin. They did look quite good.

She couldn’t help but recall the times when Xiyu would rest on her legs, saying things like, “Sister’s legs are the most perfect, I want to hold onto them forever.”

Do guys think the same way?

What about Junior Su?

“Sister Yue, you think your legs look good, right?”

“Yeah…” Jiang Shengyue, lost in thought, subconsciously responded, then quickly turned her head, only to see Su Yuchen who had just sat down. With a brightened gaze, she placed the lunch box on her lap. “What are you doing here?”

“I was drawn over by the self-admiring Sister Yue from afar.” Su Yuchen unbuttoned his shirt and lazily propped himself up with his hands behind his back. “You holding the lunch box and looking at your legs… it’s strangely amusing.”

Jiang Shengyue blushed slightly, calmly saying, “I’m not looking at my legs, I’m looking at the stockings. It’s my first time wearing them to school, I’m worried about them snagging and affecting the look.”

“Where’s the amusement in that?” She gave him a look. “Are you nearsighted?”

“I just feel like your style today is a bit different from usual, so I find it interesting.”

Hearing this, Jiang Shengyue followed up, “Then which style do you think suits me better?”

“The cool senior sister in the school skirt.” Su Yuchen replied without hesitation.

“Sly answer.” Jiang Shengyue clicked her tongue, then saw Su Yuchen lying down and closing his eyes the next moment. “Are you taking a nap here?”

“Yeah… when I don’t go back at noon, I come here to rest, it’s quiet with fewer people.”

“So that’s how it is…” Jiang Shengyue felt a little disappointed, as she thought he came here specially.

“Why didn’t I see you here before?” She asked.

“Because I usually come after having lunch. Today, I wasn’t hungry, so I skipped lunch.”

“Both Yushuang and Tia invited me to lunch at the same time, so I declined both.”

Su Yuchen propped his right leg on his left knee. Eating in the cafeteria, coupled with the shura field drama, would attract too much attention. What if Xia Yushuang and Kristia really got into an argument, and it led to a massive ‘unfortunate’ incident?

Hmm, I’m considering the well-being of the people dining.

“Are you not hungry if you didn’t eat?” Jiang Shengyue asked. “Can you concentrate in the afternoon for class?”

“Skipping a meal isn’t a big issue.” Su Yuchen replied casually. “I’ll nap and won’t feel hungry.”

“Is that so?” Jiang Shengyue looked at him. “You’ve just come of age, your body is still growing, it’s not good to starve.”

Su Yuchen opened his eyes, looking surprised at her. He realized whether it was Kristia, Xia Yushuang, or Jiang Shengyue, they all had a ‘mom’ attribute in some way.

Glancing at her lunch box, Jiang Shengyue said, “How about this, I made a bit too much today. Eat half of it.”

“Is this too much?”

Jiang Shengyue glanced at him. “For girls, it’s quite a lot. I got distracted while cooking this morning, and accidentally made too much.”

‘Because I was conflicted about whether to wear the school uniform.’

Thinking this way, it was all Su Yuchen’s fault, so it was only fair to give him half.

So, she directly handed the lunch box to him. “Eat!”

Her tone left no room for argument.

“Sister Yue, you’re really kind,” Su Yuchen said earnestly.

“Mm-hmm.”

“Do you have extra chopsticks?”

“Enmm… just use mine.” Jiang Shengyue blinked, pretending not to care.

“Is it okay?”

“It’s fine.” Jiang Shengyue patted his shoulder. “I don’t mind these little details, junior brother, you should be more straightforward.”

Su Yuchen sat up, taking the lunch box and chopsticks. With Jiang Shengyue’s removal of the ‘misfortune’, he could eat without the usual slow pace.

“And you say you’re not hungry?” Watching Su Yuchen eat heartily, Jiang Shengyue hugged her legs, chin resting on her knees, a smile evident in her eyes. “I told you, guys in your age group get hungry easily. If you don’t eat at noon, I was worried you’d faint during afternoon class.”

Su Yuchen glanced at her. Jiang Shengyue, hugging her legs, had bright eyes, and a few strands of hair hanging on her face, making her exceptionally charming.

“Mainly because it’s delicious,” Su Yuchen swallowed the food in his mouth. “Sister Yue, your cooking skills are amazing, way better than the restaurant food.”

“I’m quite confident in my cooking skills.” Jiang Shengyue proudly lifted her chin. “But thank you for the compliment, junior brother.”

“The title ‘Chef Jiang’ suits you.” Su Yuchen picked up a piece of tofu. “Your sister gets to eat your cooking every day, she must be very happy.”

Jiang Shengyue blinked, fingers playing with the strands of hair on her cheek, casually saying, “If you don’t want to eat in the cafeteria, I can make an extra portion for you… after all, we’ve been through some battles together, right?”

“That’ll trouble you.” Su Yuchen politely declined, unfazed. “What if my taste buds become too picky?”

“It’s not every day.” Jiang Shengyue chuckled. “I only make lunch when I don’t have early classes, about three days a week.”

Su Yuchen thought for a moment. Three days weren’t too much, and the rest of the time, he could eat with Xia Yushuang and Kristia. So, he nodded. “Then, I’ll trouble you, Sister Yue.”

“Not a bother.” Jiang Shengyue smiled. “I actually enjoy cooking.”

While secretly breathing a sigh of relief, Jiang Shengyue could clearly feel her heartbeat quickening. She was surprised at her own boldness yet a little shy.

This secretive little joy was like the autumn breeze passing by at this moment, gentle and comfortable.

“Shall I get some groceries?”

“No need, no need,” Jiang Shengyue hurriedly said. “I’m a rich woman now, not short of money.”

“Yeah, a multi-millionaire.”

“It’s not that exaggerated,” Jiang Shengyue laughed. “After paying off the mortgage, I have about five million left, so I’m a five-millionaire.”

“Our net worth is almost the same now.” Saying so, Su Yuchen handed over the lunch box. “I’m done eating.”

Jiang Shengyue didn’t urge him to eat more. She took the chopsticks and lunch box, a faint blush on her cheeks. Though she claimed not to care, she felt a bit embarrassed while looking at the tip of the chopsticks.

An indirect kiss?

But she didn’t mind.

After finishing his meal, Su Yuchen leaned back, squinting as he watched Jiang Shengyue delicately pick up a piece of tofu and bring it to her lips. Her cherry-colored lips parted slightly, the chopsticks touched her lips, and the tofu entered her mouth.

A smile unconsciously lifted the corners of her mouth. This careful feeling, beyond friendship but not yet lovers, made the heart flutter.

“Sister Yue, the tofu you make is the most delicious,” Su Yuchen suddenly remarked.

Jiang Shengyue’s nervousness was momentarily startled. She inadvertently pinched the chopsticks and quickly released them, turning to glance at Su Yuchen, speaking softly, “Really?”

“Absolutely sure.”

“You like tofu?”

“Tofu is delicious,” Su Yuchen said seriously.

“I see…” Jiang Shengyue turned to look at the lake’s surface. “Then, I’ll make another tofu dish tomorrow.”

“Okay.”

Jiang Shengyue looked at him, sitting a bit higher, her head almost parallel with his.

Su Yuchen involuntarily turned his head to glance at the black stockings wrapped around the edge of her skirt, enveloping her thighs. The contours of her thighs were beautiful, and the faintly visible skin was alluring.

A little curious about the curve between her thighs and…

Su Yuchen quickly averted his gaze. ‘A full stomach leads to lewd thoughts’—this statement made sense.

Jiang Shengyue didn’t notice his glance. Remembering something, she said, “By the way, the traffic department has announced some terms. They’ll ban motorbike racing on Qiuming Mountain in the future.”

“Efficiency is remarkable,” Su Yuchen exclaimed.

“After all, those who died were all rich kids,” Jiang Shengyue smiled. “But if they can’t race motorbikes, the thrill of car racing might arise.”

“Before, there were people racing cars at Qiuming Mountain too, but they couldn’t compete with the numerous motorbike enthusiasts, so they moved to another place. Now, they’ll probably all return to Qiuming Mountain.”

“Sister Yue, are you planning to buy a racing car?”

“Not to that extent, just buy a normal car for a few hundred thousand,” Jiang Shengyue boasted a little. “I got my driver’s license back in my freshman year.”

“Sister Yue, aren’t you bullying people? The title of Qiuming Mountain Racing God will forever be yours,” Su Yuchen joked.

“Let’s see if they can beat me,” Jiang Shengyue said. “Money, of course, the more, the better.”

“Mm…” Su Yuchen closed his eyes, feeling a bit sleepy.

“Oh, by the way, if we ever play with four-wheels, there’s a route where we can try that ‘drainage channel’ turn you mentioned. Hey, how did you come up with such an exhilarating route?” Jiang Shengyue said to herself. “Also, you’ve saved some money by not buying a motorbike, but now you’ll have to buy a car…”

Realizing she didn’t get a response, Jiang Shengyue turned to look, only to find Su Yuchen had already fallen asleep.

After being stunned for a moment, she said helplessly: “You fell asleep so quickly.”

The late October afternoon sun wasn’t hot but not cold either. It cast a faint golden glow on Su Yuchen’s face. Occasionally, a breeze tousled his hair, causing his eyelashes to tremble lightly.

“His lashes are really long,” Jiang Shengyue mumbled to herself, suddenly feeling that Su Yuchen looked a bit like a male protagonist from a comic, very pleasing to the eye.

Thinking this, she placed the lunch box beside her, took out her phone, and took a photo of Su Yuchen’s sleeping face. “Indeed, he has the face of a male lead.”

She chuckled shyly, thinking about the competition on Friday night and remembering her sister’s fortune-telling.

The Wheel of Fortune.

But this time, it’s not about finding an opposite-sex teammate as fate, but the ‘fate’ of him enrolling.

“I’ve been competing at Qiuming Mountain for over two years. This year, they proposed a mixed-gender team competition…”

Jiang Shengyue glanced at his sleeping face, indeed feeling a strong sense of ‘fate’.

Deep within her heart, it felt like seeds were sprouting, gently scratching at her chest, an itch that felt comfortable.

Jiang Shengyue squinted her eyes, carefully recalling the process of getting to know him. With the deepening of her memories, her fondness for him was gradually rising.

She liked this feeling—deepening through each interaction.

“Will it be cold?” Jiang Shengyue looked at Su Yuchen, hesitated for a moment, then took off her school uniform jacket and lightly covered him. She wasn’t afraid of the cold because of her fire magic.

As she covered him, Su Yuchen moved a little. Jiang Shengyue quickly straightened up, not daring to look.

When she realized he hadn’t woken up and relaxed a bit, she found he had changed to a side-sleeping position… facing her direction.

Seeing him curling under the jacket, Jiang Shengyue snorted softly. “Sure enough, it’s cold.”

I really have foresight.

“Mm…”

Stretching her arms, Jiang Shengyue picked up her phone to check the time. It was getting late.

“Xiyu hasn’t finished the meeting yet.”

Holding her knees, she already had the idea of introducing Su Yuchen to her younger sister, making him the first person to know about her and Jiang Xiyu’s secret.

She picked up the lunch box again and slowly finished eating. Soon, she covered the lunch box and put it aside. Jiang Shengyue wiped her lips with a tissue, got up, and walked to the edge of the Hidden Heart Lake. The koi in the lake seemed to be joyfully swimming today, uplifting her mood.

“I should’ve saved some rice for them just now.”

Jiang Shengyue squatted down and propped up her chin, thinking, should I take out some of my sister’s?

“No, no.”

She shook her head hastily. With such a long meeting, she must be starving.

Looking back at the deserted road, Jiang Shengyue frowned slightly. Why hadn’t Xiyu come yet?

Waiting anxiously, the feeling grew more and more urgent, but she ended up not seeing her.

Two o’clock in the afternoon.

Sighing softly, Jiang Shengyue sat back beside Su Yuchen. She reached out and shook his arm.

“Junior brother, it’s time to wake up.”
