“Beep~ door unlocked.”

In the sound of fingerprint unlocking, Su Yuchen walked into the house… It had been almost two months since arriving at Sky City, and last night was the first night of staying out.

The moment he entered, he saw Xia Yushuang in the kitchen, preparing ingredients to cook right after finishing her class meeting. Su Yuchen, who had already changed into slippers, calmly walked over, “Sky City really harbors hidden dragons and crouching tigers. During the Mid-Autumn Festival, there was an unregistered vampire, and now there’s a demon.”

“I just reached a collaboration with Yae Mitsuha, and then I ran into a demon…” Su Yuchen glanced at Xia Yushuang and continued with a calm tone, telling a lie that wasn’t entirely a lie: “It’s possible that this was one of Yae Mitsuha’s tricks—after all, they are capable of such things. Fortunately, she underestimated my strength. We fought all night, and she still couldn’t defeat me.”

After saying this, Su Yuchen couldn’t help but sigh sincerely, “Sky City is becoming increasingly unstable.”

Kristia risked her life to sneak into Sky City for the Lost Array. So, what was this succubus, Sylvia, here for?

Su Yuchen only just began to think about this question now, as he really hadn’t had the mental space to consider it before.

Succubi are too alluring.

“And yet you still dared to go out and stay out all night.” Xia Yushuang glanced at him. “Don’t forget your identity. If it gets exposed, there will be plenty of people wanting to kill you.”

“It’s no big deal.” Su Yuchen glanced at the cutting board. “What’s for dinner?”

“More meat,” Xia Yushuang replied coolly. “You must be tired after fighting all night?”

“Indeed,” Su Yuchen said as he walked toward the bedroom. “I’m going to change into my school uniform.”

“Mm.” Xia Yushuang turned her head to look at him. Encounter a demon last night and only just now broke free?

After such a long fight, she couldn’t tell whether Su Yuchen was strong or the demon was weak… The demon shouldn’t be weak, after all, how could it have arrived in Sky City without registering if it had no strength?

Just like Tia Yufei…

But if that’s the case, how did he manage to escape?

Xia Yushuang lowered her head again. When her attention wasn’t solely focused on Su Yuchen but also turned to Kristia and Jiang Shengyue, she found that there seemed to be a mist around her childhood friend Su Yuchen as well.

Why would a vampire be interested in him?

Why did a senior suddenly get so close to him?

What does he have that attracts them?

Do I… actually know him at all?

·····

“Sister.”

Hearing her younger sister’s voice, Jiang Shengyue looked up at the entrance. Watching her sister walk in, she was slightly taken aback. Xiyu’s complexion was much better than before.

Although her expression hadn’t changed much, there was now an elusive charm between her brows that made her heart involuntarily race.

“Xiyu?”

“Sister, what’s wrong?” Jiang Xiyu approached Jiang Shengyue, leaning her cheek against her sister’s shoulder, looking content.

“Where did you go?” Jiang Shengyue patted her cheek. It was warm, with a great feel. “You said you’d be back by dinner yesterday, but then you stayed out all night.”

“I’m sorry,” Jiang Xiyu whispered, “I forgot.”

“This is so unlike you.” Jiang Shengyue sighed, pinching her sister’s cheek. When she heard a soft “Mm~” escape from her slightly parted cherry lips, she couldn’t help but let go of her fingers. “You’re craving it?”

Jiang Xiyu shook her head. It wasn’t that she was craving it—her body just hadn’t completely cooled down.

She couldn’t help but place her hand on her lower abdomen. The cherry-colored eyes became uncontrollably moist. She hadn’t completely absorbed everything from Yuchen, so she felt comfortable with her body still warm.

“Are you sure?” Jiang Shengyue looked at her sister with a smile that was not a smile. She knew full well what this expression meant.

“I’m sure,” Jiang Xiyu said, her expression returning to normal. She couldn’t let her sister find out about her relationship with Yuchen right now. Otherwise, her loving sister would surely give him up without any competition.

That couldn’t happen. She needed to push her sister’s relationship with Yuchen further—far enough that her sister would, for the first time, feel unwilling to give him up. That way, they could share him together.

Jiang Shengyue examined Jiang Xiyu for a while, confirming that she truly didn’t want it, which was unusual for her sister. But she didn’t probe further. Instead, she asked with a smile, “There’s no meeting tomorrow noon at the Disciplinary Committee, right? Can we have lunch together?”

“Sister, I’m sorry,” Jiang Xiyu apologized softly, “I’m afraid tomorrow won’t work. The council president summoned me.”

The current strategy was to let her sister spend more time alone with Yuchen. Ideally, they would kiss soon, deepening their feelings for each other.

So, she couldn’t have lunch with her sister! She even kept this part of her plan hidden from Yuchen.

“So many meetings.” Jiang Shengyue sighed, “How about bringing a lunch box tomorrow?”

“Sister’s food is delicious.”

“It’s even better when we eat together.”

After pondering for a moment, Jiang Xiyu nodded firmly, “I will definitely have lunch with my sister in the future… it’ll be the best.”

“And yet, you keep standing me up,” Jiang Shengyue teased, pinching her sister’s nose. Jiang Xiyu took the opportunity to snuggle into her sister’s arms, her cherry-colored eyes fixed on her sister’s legs.

‘Yuchen is definitely going to fall for her.’

“Alright, no more acting spoiled,” Jiang Shengyue said, patting her sister’s head. “Go change and get to school.”

“Mm.”

·····

“Man, you’re something else! You went on a date with the class president on Saturday. If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn’t believe it… you scumbag!”

In the classroom, Song Xinghui was both envious and admiring, “Even though you have Teacher Yufei, and your relationship with Senior Jiang is so good, you’re now flirting with the class president again. Have you no shame?”

Su Yuchen didn’t answer but asked, “You mentioned a ghost story about ‘the pages that fly away in the library’ during PE class, right?”

“Yeah, what about it?”

“Do you know what that’s all about?” Su Yuchen asked, a bit curious. “Is it a ghost?”

“A ghost?” Song Xinghui leaned in, intrigued. “Did you see it?”

“I did.” Su Yuchen nodded solemnly. “A white-haired ghost sitting on the ninth floor of the library at sunset.”

Smack!

Suddenly, Song Xinghui slapped a hand on Su Yuchen’s shoulder, grinning widely. “Dude, the way you’re saying it so seriously, I almost believed you really saw a ghost.”

“So, it wasn’t?” Su Yuchen continued to feign ignorance.

“How could such a pretty ghost exist?!” Song Xinghui muttered through gritted teeth. “The white-haired ghost you saw was Senior Bai Raorao, a second-year genius in the Medical Magic Department.”

“She’s only a sophomore, but she’s exceptionally talented in healing magic. Not only does she have solid theoretical knowledge, but she’s also achieved impressive results. The Medical Magic Department even allows her to skip classes legally; not even the Disciplinary Committee can do anything about it.” Song Xinghui paused, emphasizing his point. “Don’t tell me you’ve hooked up with Senior Bai Raorao as well.”

“How could I?” Su Yuchen quickly dismissed the notion, having gotten the information he wanted. “I’m not a womanizing heartbreaker.”

“True.” Song Xinghui nodded in agreement, “There are plenty of handsome guys in our school, but none can make Senior Bai look their way…”

Lowering his voice, he added, “To be blunt, Senior Bai is a bookworm. All she does is read. Unless she decides to stop, no one can get her attention.”

“Is that so?”

“Would I lie to you?” Song Xinghui scoffed, removing his hand from Su Yuchen’s shoulder. “A lot of people want to ask her questions, but no one can get her to stop reading.”

“From what I’ve heard, her longest record for reading in the library is seven days and seven nights without moving an inch.”

“Isn’t that exaggerating a bit?” Su Yuchen chuckled. “It’s not like she’s a dead person; how could she not move at all?”

Song Xinghui shrugged. “It’s highly authentic, but it wasn’t me who confirmed it. It was proven by the library’s surveillance. After all, she’s a year senior to us, and this legend dates back to when she was a freshman.”

Su Yuchen thought for a moment and said, “So, she’s considered a genius like Teacher Yufei?”

“A bit more genius than Teacher Yufei, considering her achievements at a younger age than Teacher Yufei had at her sophomore year.” Seeing the counselor starting to speak, Song Xinghui lowered his voice, “She’s created several healing spells that have been included in the human ‘Encyclopedia of Magic,’ saving many lives.”

“Many countries tried to recruit her, but it was futile. Oh, by the way, she holds citizenship in our Xuanqing Empire, but her hometown is unclear.”

“There’s actually something you don’t know?”

“Do you think I’m the ‘Sky’ intelligence system?” Song Xinghui chuckled.

“Heh.” Su Yuchen expressed disdain, glanced at Yae Mitsuha sitting upright in her seat. He felt a bit amused, especially when he thought about the strange plot Yae Masakatsu probably imagined.

What a weird brother and sister.

Seemingly sensing Su Yuchen’s gaze, Yae Mitsuha suddenly turned her head. Su Yuchen immediately restrained his smile to a polite degree and nodded slightly toward her.

Yae Mitsuha also nodded slightly back, unlike her usual expressionless self. Obviously, the Saturday “date” had some positive effects.

She had already established a faint fondness in her heart, although it was a very small part.

Sunday’s class meeting was usually to ensure all students were present, so it ended quickly. Exiting the classroom, Su Yuchen contacted Xia Yushuang, but their counselor was discussing something about the competition, which would take about half an hour. Therefore, Su Yuchen headed towards the library.

He figured he might as well use the time to confirm whether the “ghost” in the library could indeed break his streak of bad luck.

He went straight to the ninth floor, walking through rows of bookshelves. Soon, the girl with white hair under the light came into view.

Just like the first time, she sat on the cold floor, hugging a thick book and reading. After observing for a while and noticing that she didn’t clip any pages, Su Yuchen approached.

“Senior?” Su Yuchen called softly.

No response.

“Senior Bai?”

Swish!

The sound of flipping pages.

Su Yuchen clicked his tongue and suddenly made a louder sound, a little “hey” meant to startle her, but still got no response.

“Bai Raorao!” Su Yuchen called out her full name.

Her sapphire-blue eyes flicked quickly across the pages, but she didn’t even glance at Su Yuchen.

After a moment of silence, Su Yuchen spoke gently, “Raorao?”

The sound of her fingers turning the page abruptly stopped. The girl lifted her head, her long white hair falling over her shoulders, and she brushed a strand of it away from her face. Bai Raorao’s eyes lit up slightly as she gave a gentle smile. “Yuchen… you’re here.”

As she greeted him, she shifted from her knee-hugging position to a more proper kneeling one, the bell on her ankle jingling softly with the movement. The way she tilted her head upward was unexpectedly cute.

So familiar already?

Su Yuchen focused on her lips, noticing that she seemed like she wanted to say something more after his name. What was it?

“Senior, hello.” Su Yuchen raised his hand in greeting.

Bai Raorao lowered her gaze slightly, and Su Yuchen continued, “I didn’t expect you to be so famous at school. On Friday night, I almost thought you were the library’s ghost.”

“I’m not a ghost.” Bai Raorao showed a slightly serious expression.

“I know now.” Su Yuchen smiled. “A genius medical student senior.”

“Call me Raorao.”

Su Yuchen glanced at the vermilion mole on her forehead and nodded. “Okay, Senior Raorao.”

“Raorao.” Bai Raorao’s voice softened with a hint of stubbornness.

Su Yuchen hesitated for a moment. “Um, Raorao.”

Her smile blossomed in his sight, as gentle as a rose. Su Yuchen’s pupils adjusted like a camera focusing, as if trying to capture and preserve that smile.

Once again, he felt the urge to leave, as if disturbing her reading was a crime.

Taking a deep breath, Su Yuchen averted his gaze. “I heard you once spent seven days and nights reading without moving. Is that true?”

“Knowledge is power,” Bai Raoran said softly.

‘She clipped this sentence? Does it have any special meaning?’

Su Yuchen hesitated for a moment, then joked, “How do you solve the problem of not moving while using the restroom?”

He thought such an impolite question would surely make the girl in front of him angry… He averted his gaze, bracing for some sort of misfortune, but… nothing happened! She wasn’t even mad?

Returning his gaze to her face, the light illuminated her cheeks as if tinted by the setting sun. That kind of gentle and shy expression was indescribable.

Bai Raorao blushed, lowered her head, her pair of peach blossom eyes appeared somewhat moist. Her toes, wrapped in white stockings, curled up like a kitten retracting its claws. Her shy and nervous voice quivered, soft and trembling, like cotton candy in the wind.

“I-I did go to the restroom properly… really.”

“I-I didn’t… go anywhere inappropriate or… or… or…”

Watching the girl’s face turn bright red, Su Yuchen was momentarily stunned. Go where?

She’s so naïve?

His expression changed slightly, and Su Yuchen immediately interrupted her and apologized, “I’m sorry, I just spoke without thinking, I’m truly sorry.”

Bai Raorao’s lips moved slightly, her sapphire eyes dimmed a bit. “Why apologize?”

Her voice was very soft: “There’s no need to apologize.”

“Huh?” Su Yuchen looked at her, puzzled, as she lowered her head slightly, then raised it again to meet his gaze. Her eyes slowly moved down, settling on his chest. Holding the thick medical book, she carefully extended it toward Su Yuchen, her voice as gentle as a trickling stream.

“Do you want to read together?”
