Discipline Committee Office.

Sylvia, the Discipline Committee President, stared fixedly at the surveillance screen showing Su Yuchen. She couldn’t help but squeeze her thighs together, the warmth spreading throughout her body, especially in the aftermath of last night’s absorption. It felt so cozy…

Leaning forward slightly, Sylvia pressed her lips together, staring for a while longer before finally shifting her attention to the task her sister had assigned.

“Weird…”

With her thoughts somewhat normalized, Sylvia, expressionless, looked at the surveillance footage around Hidden Heart Lake. The footage showed Su Yuchen and her sister having a meal together and then sleeping, but the moments of the attack and retaliation were missing.

And she hadn’t even started deleting any footage yet.

‘Was it done by someone who’s been watching this area around Hidden Heart Lake?’

“No…” Sylvia muttered to herself. There were several people monitoring the area, and it was impossible that none of them would report such an incident, especially since some of them were under her magical control.

“Who did this?”

Sylvia leaned back in her chair, realizing there was no longer a need to delete the footage herself.

Knock, knock, knock.

“Come in.”

Roxanne and another vice president, Maren Yalvis, entered. Seeing Sylvia, they immediately showed a respectful demeanor, echoing simultaneously, “Sister Sylvia.”

Most of the upper echelons of the Sky University’s Discipline Committee were from the west. Apart from those controlled by Sylvia’s magic, another part of them respected Sylvia because she had a slightly mixed-race appearance, held citizenship in the western small country, the Osler Duchy, and was of royal descent. Moreover, she was acknowledged for her top-three combat strength in the whole martial arts division.

Sylvia glanced at the two of them and used magic to conceal the ‘Yuchen’ scent she herself could smell. She calmly asked, “What’s the situation?”

“Those five assailants owe a considerable amount in campus loans, so they took desperate measures.” Roxanne approached the desk and handed over testimonies. “Wang Xinghuan, Hachino Tanaka, Guo Si, Ma Shuang, and Biden Eugene.”

“Hmm?” Sylvia took the testimonies and glanced up at Roxanne.

Maren stepped forward ahead of Roxanne, trying to impress Sylvia, “Sister Sylvia, Guo Si and Biden Eugene are mid-level officials in the Student Council. During the attack, they intended to damage campus facilities as well. If they succeeded, they could have profited when the repair funds were allocated.”

“They not only owe campus loans but also misappropriated public funds.”

Sylvia nodded and started reading the testimonies. The heavy weaponry used in the attack had been smuggled onto campus, and their target was Jiang Shengyue.

The reason was simple: Jiang Shengyue’s consistent victories in the past competitions at Qiuming Mountain had left them financially ruined as they had bet against her.

This was the outcome after Sylvia had indirectly controlled the five attackers through Roxanne.

As for the subsequent investigations… they could be dealt with by having them commit suicide out of fear of punishment. After all, with the amount of debt they owed, death might be a relief.

Roxanne glanced at Maren, continuing, “According to their confessions, they were hired by someone outside the school. There’s only a sketch, no detailed information. Since this involves external parties and heavy weaponry, the matter needs to be reported to the Magic Adjudication Bureau.”

“They each have a million in their bank accounts, presumably the down payment for the assassination.”

Sylvia looked at the five written testimonies. As for the deeper reason, Roxanne had already inquired— they were targeting Su Yuchen.

This was absolutely unforgivable.

Placing the testimonies on the desk, Sylvia lowered her eyelids slightly, contemplating how to make her sister believe that she still didn’t know Su Yuchen.

She needed to act as though she hadn’t personally handled this matter.

Ring, ring, ring…

The ringing tone sounded from the desktop landline phone. Roxanne and Maren both held their breaths, recognizing it was the Council President’s number.

Sylvia picked up the phone, murmured an “Mhm,” then hung up and reached for the five written testimonies on the desktop, saying, “I’ll go to the Council President’s office for a while. Strengthen the school patrols while I’m gone.”

Roxanne and Maren nodded, accompanying Sylvia out of the office, splitting ways in the elevator lobby.

The headquarters of the Student Council and the Discipline Committee were not close, so Sylvia, not in a hurry, took about ten minutes to reach the president’s office. Before she could knock, a voice from inside invited her in.

Upon entering, Sylvia looked at the Student Council President, Mu Lingyan, who was staring at the window screen while sitting on a chair. “President.”

“Sit.” Mu Lingyan invited Sylvia to take a seat opposite her. She put her right leg, previously propped up, back down. “What’s the reason?”

Sylvia handed over the five testimonies. “During a previous race at Qiuming Mountain, after losing, they incurred campus loans and were manipulated by someone with malicious intent to initiate an assassination.”

“The target was Jiang Shengyue?” Mu Lingyan asked lightly.

“Yes.” Sylvia nodded. “She raced at Qiuming Mountain before, and they bet against her.”

Mu Lingyan, placing the five testimonies on the table, looked at Sylvia. “Were any other members of the Student Council involved?”

“Not at the moment.”

“This is the second time.” Mu Lingyan, after observing Sylvia for a moment, lightly tapped the table with her fingertip. “Within a month, it’s the second time heavy weaponry has appeared on campus and been used for murder.”

“You can’t get complacent just because nothing like this has happened before.” Mu Lingyan’s violet eyes met Sylvia’s pale pink ones with a cold clarity. “The safety of all the students is in the hands of the Disciplinary Committee. If something like this happens again, it’ll be hard to explain to the entire student body.”

“It won’t,” Sylvia replied calmly. “All the dangers are within controllable limits. Apart from those directly involved, this matter hasn’t spread and will hardly cause any impact.”

Mu Lingyan observed Sylvia, who never showed unnecessary emotions. If certain people were to exploit these two incidents involving heavy weaponry on campus, it could easily force Sylvia to resign. But she wouldn’t let that happen.

It wasn’t because their relationship was particularly close but because working with Sylvia had been a pleasant experience. Mu Lingyan valued individual ability over interpersonal relationships.

At least in the two years they had worked together, Sylvia had never overstepped her authority or interfered in the internal affairs of the Student Council, despite the Disciplinary Committee’s autonomy and enforcement power.

“How do you plan to handle these five individuals?” Mu Lingyan asked.

“Report to the authorities, expulsion.”

“Before that, have them publicly reflect on their actions in front of the entire school. Make sure they clearly explain how they smuggled heavy weaponry onto campus. This will prevent anyone from using this incident to make trouble.” Mu Lingyan tapped the statements with her finger. “Next year, you still plan to run for re-election, right?”

Sylvia didn’t answer that question directly but said, “Starting tomorrow morning, we’ll set up checkpoints at the school gates and dormitory entrances to check for any students carrying prohibited items.”

Hearing this, Mu Lingyan paused. “This matter needs to be handled discreetly. If the whole school knows, it won’t be good for you.”

“Yes.” Sylvia said, standing up and nodding firmly.

Mu Lingyan looked at Sylvia in surprise. It was the first time she had seen her express such a strong emotion, prompting her to ask out of curiosity, “What good will it do?”

Sylvia didn’t answer. Saying “I can openly take advantage of Yuchen” wasn’t something she’d say to someone with an average relationship.

“Alright then, since you’ve planned it out, I won’t say more.” Mu Lingyan nodded.

“I’ll be going now.” Sylvia turned and walked toward the door. Just as her right hand gripped the door handle—

“Sylvia, did you get a boyfriend?”

Sylvia didn’t break her stride as she opened the door, left, and closed it behind her, without any extra emotion.

Mu Lingyan narrowed her eyes slightly. It wasn’t that she had smelled anything strange on Sylvia, but because she ‘saw’ the spring vibe between Sylvia’s brows.

This kind of aura was intangible, but Mu Lingyan could perceive it. And previously, Sylvia clearly didn’t have this aura. She didn’t even have it when they met last week.

So, she must have gone to a hotel this week.

Though it might not necessarily have been with a boyfriend.

Mu Lingyan’s voice carried a hint of playfulness. “After all, she’s a succubus…”

Shifting her gaze to the screen in front of her, Mu Lingyan sat up slightly, silently watching the incomplete surveillance footage from the area near Hidden Heart Lake that had been transferred from the Disciplinary Committee—an incomplete video.

Glancing at the window screen, Mu Lingyan sat up slightly, silently watching the surveillance video of the Hidden Heart Lake area transferred from the Discipline Committee—an incomplete video.

“Jiang Shengyue and also Su Yuchen,” Mu Lingyan pinched her chin. “Why did Sylvia go out of her way to help Jiang Shengyue delete the video? Do they have some sort of deal between them?”

“What’s the relationship between Su Yuchen and Jiang Shengyue?”

“And what about Su Yuchen and Kristia Newmoon?”

“Or is there some kind of relationship between Su Yuchen and Sylvia?”

Mu Lingyan continued watching the surveillance footage, where Jiang Shengyue draped a jacket over Su Yuchen and thoughtfully used a flame to ward off the cold. She recalled seeing Su Yuchen and the Night Queen Kristia together from that evening.

“This freshman… Is he really fearless, or is he just ignorant? Or perhaps he’s extremely confident?” Mu Lingyan crossed her right leg over her left, the black over-the-knee stockings outlining the graceful curve of her legs. The contrast between the dark stocking tops and the hem of her school skirt revealed a tantalizing strip of pale skin—an eye-catching ‘absolute territory,’ where the faint red marks from the stockings added a touch of sensuality.

“Sky.”

“I’m here.”

“Restore the damaged surveillance.”

“Unable to restore,” ‘Sky’ calmly replied, “Hardware issue.”

The ‘Sky’ intelligent system was ultimately just a system; any hardware malfunction or power outage would affect it.

Mu Lingyan didn’t ask further and continued, “Su Yuchen’s personal information.”

“Su Yuchen, male, 18 years old, from Jinyang City, Xuanqing Empire, Chang’an District, currently residing at Unit 2801, 28th floor, Ding Sheng Residential Area. A freshman in the Magic Engineering Department at Sky University, Class of 2198.”

When the system didn’t continue, Mu Lingyan glanced at the screen. “That’s it?”

“That’s it,” ‘Sky’ responded succinctly.

Mu Lingyan hmphed, undecided. A freshman daring to ‘hop around’ between Kristia and Jiang Shengyue—how many would have the courage?

Even if he didn’t know their backgrounds, anyone with a hint of awareness would be cautious of their reputations at school. But Su Yuchen dared, and seemingly without any burden on his conscience.

“Who are Su Yuchen’s parents?”

“Orphan!”

“How many siblings?”

“One!”

“Where did he attend high school?”

“Jinyang City First High School.”

“What’s his relationship with Chang’an District?”

“Unknown.”

Finally getting a different response, Mu Lingyan asked, “Why is it unknown?”

“Insufficient access.”

Mu Lingyan refrained from speaking further. It was indeed the ‘Sky’ intelligent system she was communicating with, but it wasn’t the complete ‘Sky’. After all, ‘Sky’ devoted more energy to maintaining the operation of Sky City. Her privileges as the Student Council President were quite limited.

She opened a web page, looking at the name that had been frequently appearing in recent Xuanqing Empire news, then asked again, “What’s the relationship between Su Yuchen and Su Yuxi?”

After a silence of about ten seconds, ‘Sky’ responded, “Unknown.”

“Why unknown?” Mu Lingyan asked again.

“Regarding Su Yuxi’s family composition, insufficient access.”

Mu Lingyan stood up and walked to the window. With her arms crossed, she tapped her left arm with her right finger. Although ‘Sky’ provided her with information, how much was true and trustworthy required her judgment.

Insufficient access?

A hint of a smile flashed in Mu Lingyan’s eyes. Even the ‘Sky’ that could trace the Demon Lord couldn’t find information about a new student? What human background could compare to a Demon Lord?

Is Sylvia trying to conceal Jiang Shengyue or Su Yuchen?

If it’s Jiang Shengyue, what’s their relationship?

If it’s Su Yuchen, what’s her relationship with him?

Why are Jiang Shengyue and Su Yuchen so close? How did Kristia Newmoon meet Su Yuchen?

“Vampires, elves, succubi.”

Mu Lingyan squinted her purple eyes, contemplating.

“Su Yuchen… the Sky City is truly a hiding place for dragons and tigers.”

“But as long as they don’t interfere with me, it’s fine.”

….

Su Yuchen wasn’t paying much attention in class that afternoon either. Sitting in the last row by the corner, he was searching online for traces of information about himself but found nothing—no forums or websites in Sky City had any information about his identity.

“This doesn’t make much sense.”

Su Yuchen muttered to himself. Given his ‘unlucky constitution,’ this kind of information shouldn’t have stayed hidden for long, yet everything seemed unusually secure.

For minor things like reserving a seat every day, he could deliberately avoid sitting near the window to hide, but such minor issues wouldn’t lead to injury.

However, any ‘unlucky’ event that could cause injury was unavoidable.

Clearly, the ‘unlucky’ level of having his identity exposed was life-threatening, but that misfortune hadn’t occurred. Unless someone like Kristia or Jiang Shengyue helped him avoid it.

But there was no trace of help left online. It was inexplicable.

Even if there’s nothing online, what about offline?

Did all those who tried to reveal his identity die?

Just the thought of it seemed impossible.

“When did my luck become so good?”

Closing his phone, Su Yuchen looked out of the window, watching flying footballs, birds, and rocks. He missed Kristia a little; if she were in class, he wouldn’t worry about these misfortunes.

“It seems I need to gather seven to make the misfortune disappear completely…”

Su Yuchen’s mouth twitched. It was like collecting all seven Dragon Balls and then wishing to Shenron, “Please make me not unlucky anymore,” and then—poof—the misfortune would disappear.

“Hey, bro!” Song Xinghui suddenly nudged Su Yuchen with his elbow. “Latest intel, someone attacked Senior Jiang Shengyue at Hidden Heart Lake using heavy firepower.”

“Huh?” Su Yuchen turned his head in surprise. Wasn’t Jiang Shengyue supposed to handle this matter well? How did it become public knowledge now?

Song Xinghui continued in a lowered voice, “You mustn’t spread this around. I’ve managed to get this information. The Discipline Committee hasn’t given detailed information externally, only mentioning that they’ll start checking students’ belongings from tomorrow.”

“I won’t say anything,” Su Yuchen nodded.

“Bro!” Song Xinghui looked at him somewhat emotionally. “I’ve told you so many gossips before, and this is the first time you’ve been curious on your own. I’m so touched!”

Su Yuchen glanced at him. “Because it’s my Sister Yue.”

“Uh…” Song Xinghui’s emotions disappeared instantly. “Scumbag!”

“Get on with it.”

“Alright, alright.” Song Xinghui lowered his voice. “Guo Si and four others racked up massive campus loans, so they took a job to kill someone. The target was Jiang Shengyue.”

“And they felt sure they could succeed, even intending to deliberately damage school facilities.”

“Why damage?”

“Because Guo Si and Biden Eugene are in the student council, wanting to get some money from the repair fund.”

“Student council?”

“Yeah, they are mid-level officials in the school student council.”

Su Yuchen nodded, piecing the story together. Guo Si and his group, burdened by high-interest loans, accepted a job to kill him, assuming that since he was just a freshman, it would be an easy task. Greedy for more, they planned to skim some money from the student council’s funds. But the employer didn’t provide much useful information, thinking it would be like slaughtering a lamb, only to walk right into a tiger’s den.

“No messing with campus loans!” Song Xinghui concluded. “The rolling interest pushed them to the brink of desperation.”

“Buddy, remember, spend within your means—don’t overspend.”

“I only spend, never earn,” Su Yuchen leaned back in his chair, adopting the lazy posture of a couch potato.

“Speak human language…”

Snap!

The hard back of the chair suddenly broke. Su Yuchen jerked in surprise but quickly stabilized himself, also grabbing the back of the chair to prevent it from making noise.

“Heh heh… retribution!” Song Xinghui chuckled. “Even heaven can’t bear it.”

“Heaven is envious of me,” Su Yuchen said calmly, envying me for having seven wives in the future.
