“Never think being childhood friends is an advantage. On the contrary, it’s a huge disadvantage!”

“Yushuang, think about it. When you buy a new house versus living in one you’ve had for over ten years, which one do you take better care of?”

“Of course, the new one, right? But after some time, it doesn’t really matter anymore. That’s the position of ‘childhood friends’…”

“In love, what matters most is mystery and anticipation. Childhood friends lack these feelings… You say you haven’t seen each other for ten years? So what…”

“Since you’re childhood friends, the first impression when recalling your time together will always be the personality you showed when you were younger. So, with the first impression solidified, it’s crucial to have qualities that differentiate from the past to attract attention.”

“And one should take the initiative…”

Zhao Yibai, despite having no experience in love, spoke as if she had plenty. Much of what she said resonated with Xia Yushuang, though she didn’t listen to all of it.

Glancing at Zhao Yibai, who had stayed up all night and was now asleep on the desk, Xia Yushuang propped her chin on her hand and looked out the window. There was no way she could tell her about Su Yuchen’s ‘misfortune’ condition, and she was too embarrassed to share the methods she had been ‘proactively’ using on him, so…

“I’ve already been proactive; it’s him who’s not making a move…”

Xia Yushuang thought a bit gloomily. Setting aside Jiang Shengyue, who could supposedly dispel his ‘misfortune,’ it seemed even Tia Yufei had caught more of his attention.

Could Tia Yufei also dispel his ‘misfortune’?

Is that possible?

Xia Yushuang bit her lip, suddenly feeling that this possibility wasn’t entirely out of the question… After all, Su Yuchen was well aware of his condition and wouldn’t casually get close to any woman.

If he didn’t care about dragging others into his ‘misfortune,’ he wouldn’t be avoiding her.

So, could Tia Yufei also be an option? Maybe he just hasn’t been able to confirm it yet… Is that it?

After thinking for a while, Xia Yushuang took out her phone and sent a lunch invitation to Su Yuchen.

As expected, he politely declined.

She turned off her phone and slowly rested her head on the desk. Suddenly, she thought of Su Yuxi. In less than half a month, it would be Su Yuxi’s birthday.

An indirect approach is still an approach.

…

Crunch.

Su Yuchen took a bite of the red apple that Bai Raorao had given him, its juice sweet and rich.

Suddenly, he recalled the white cat with the apple in its mouth from his dream last night. Then, he thought of the white cat that appeared when Sylvia entered his dream. In comparison, the cat from last night’s dream was much smaller and didn’t have a tuft of red fur on its forehead.

“I keep dreaming about cats these days.”

Taking another bite of the apple, Su Yuchen turned to see Jiang Shengyue approaching.

“I can smell the fragrance of apples from afar.” Jiang Shengyue sat down next to him with a gentle smile, taking a bite of the apple Su Yuchen handed her without hesitation. “It tastes better than the apples sold by Grandma Li. Where did you get it?”

“Someone gave it to me.”

“Your childhood friend?” Jiang Shengyue asked.

“No.” Su Yuchen didn’t hide it. “It was Senior Bai Raorao. You know her, right?”

“Of course, she’s the genius of Medical Magic Department…” Jiang Shengyue turned her crimson eyes to Su Yuchen. “Why would she give you an apple?”

“Because I helped her tidy up a pile of books that fell from the windowsill,” Su Yuchen took another bite of the apple, “then she gave me an apple.”

Jiang Shengyue understood, then teased him, “Bai Raorao might be quiet, but she’s incredibly beautiful. Many have tried to approach her, but none have succeeded. Yet, not only did you talk to her, but you also got a gift from her. Junior brother must have quite the charm.”

Su Yuchen turned to her and said, “Senior Bai Raorao gave me an apple, and I shared half with you. Doesn’t that mean, Sister Yue, that you’re even more charming than her?”

“Then why didn’t you give me the whole apple?” Jiang Shengyue asked playfully.

Su Yuchen glanced at the apple, four bites taken. “I haven’t finished it yet…”

“Alright then, give it to me,” Jiang Shengyue calmly extended her hand. “I don’t mind at all eating something that’s been in your mouth.”

Su Yuchen was momentarily stunned, then smiled and stuffed the rest of the apple into his mouth in a few bites. “Next time, I’ll give you a big apple, Sister Yue.”

He stood up, tossed the apple core into the trash, and when he returned, Jiang Shengyue had almost set up lunch.

“Have you decided which day to go out?” Jiang Shengyue asked, holding the apple she had bitten. “Saturday, Sunday?”

“Saturday,” Su Yuchen immediately replied. Since he had invited Jiang Shengyue, he felt responsible for planning the date; otherwise, it might decrease her favorability.

“Mm,” Jiang Shengyue nodded, still biting the apple as she watched Su Yuchen start eating. “Did you skip breakfast this morning?”

“I did.”

“Concentrating in class?”

“Yeah…” Su Yuchen nodded, though in reality, he had spent the entire morning thinking about Bai Raorao. He hadn’t done anything special, sp why did she seem so easily ‘approachable’?

“Then eat more,” Jiang Shengyue said, glancing around at the Hidden Heart Lake nearby, before proudly adding, “So, have things been resolved? I managed to keep you out of it completely—Sister’s awesome, right?”

“Awesome!” Talking about this matter, Su Yuchen genuinely praised, “Even the surveillance footage got overlooked… Did you get someone to delete the footage, Sister Yue?”

“Mm-hmm.”

“The only people in the Disciplinary Committee who could pull that off are the president and a few vice presidents, right?”

“Not necessarily.” Jiang Shengyue responded vaguely, “Maybe it was someone from the surveillance team in the Disciplinary Committee. They’re on the front lines and could easily handle something like that. Don’t you think so?”

“That’s true,” Su Yuchen agreed, though his inner thoughts were entirely different. He had asked Song Xinghui about it, and members of the surveillance team didn’t have the authority to delete or disable campus surveillance unless they had the access codes.

So even if it was someone from the surveillance team, they must have had approval from higher-ups.

Surprisingly, Jiang Shengyue had quite a wide network of connections.

“That’s for sure.” Jiang Shengyue, having finished her half apple, glanced at Su Yuchen. After all, he was only a freshman and didn’t know the inner workings of the Discipline Committee. Also, maintaining mystery in front of him wasn’t a bad idea. “And if we’re honest, they’re easier to bribe than the higher-ups in the Disciplinary Committee, right?”

“So, Sister Yue, did you bribe them?”

“I wouldn’t use such an easily traceable method.” Jiang Shengyue replied smugly, and then… she said nothing more.

Su Yuchen strongly condemned this behavior of saying only half of something, “Sister Yue, you know that makes people want to punch you, right?”

“Punch me?” Jiang Shengyue beckoned with her finger. “Wanna try?”

“I feel like I still can’t beat a senior from the Martial Arts Division.”

“So, will I get punched?”

“Maybe not, but…” Su Yuchen said seriously, “I’ll still say ‘you’re asking to get beaten up like this’!”

I might not win, but I won’t back down!

“Does that matter?” Jiang Shengyue grabbed Su Yuchen’s wrist and placed the apple core in his hand. “You’ll throw this away for your big sister, right?”

As she spoke, she blinked her eyes, looking as if she had him all figured out.

“Do your own things yourself,” Su Yuchen refused firmly. “I’m standing up to you right now, and you’re just making me slap myself in the face!”

“Why are you standing up to me?” Jiang Shengyue continued holding his wrist. “And honestly, ‘I can’t beat you but I won’t back down’ is just a figment of your imagination. I haven’t even hit you yet, so this defiance is all in your head, isn’t it?”

“I didn’t tell you what I was thinking, did I?”

“It’s easy to guess.” Jiang Shengyue tilted her head. “It’s like we’re in sync…”

She released Su Yuchen’s wrist and pressed her palm against his chest. “Is your heart racing?”

Su Yuchen quickly stood up and walked towards the trash can, avoiding her discovery of any evidence of being ‘moved.’ Jiang Shengyue’s lips curled into a smile as she thought, You’re worrying about your ‘misfortune’ condition and contemplating your relationship with your childhood friend, but that doesn’t mean I won’t tie your heart to mine.

After lunch, while thinking that Jiang Shengyue is really something, Su Yuchen took a nap. When he woke up, he noticed Jiang Shengyue warily eyeing the passing students around them and laughed, saying, “With you here, unless it’s those money-hungry guys from last time, who would dare make a move?”

“Maybe there are some desperate fools,” Jiang Shengyue replied, turning to look at him. “Why did you wake up on your own today?”

“Just this once.” Su Yuchen stood up, handed her his sports jacket, and as they walked down the path, he suddenly paused. “Sister Yue, can I ask you a question?”

“What is it?” Jiang Shengyue looked at him smilingly.

“Is it only you who can resolve my ‘misfortune’, or are there others who can do it too?”

Seeing Su Yuchen’s slightly hesitant expression, Jiang Shengyue’s smile involuntarily faded a bit.

Why would he ask this all of a sudden?

Has he encountered another girl who can alleviate his ‘misfortune’?

Who could it be?

Jiang Shengyue stared intensely at Su Yuchen, not feeling angry but rather a sense of ‘battle readiness.’ “You’ve encountered someone else?”

“Not really…” Su Yuchen’s eyes flickered. “I was just curious… Sister Yue, I should get to class.”

After saying that, he hurriedly left.

Jiang Shengyue watched his hurried steps, deep in thought. He really did meet someone… Judging by his flustered reaction, it doesn’t seem like it’s his childhood friend. It’s someone else… who could it be?

Involuntarily, she thought of the half apple in her stomach. “Is it Bai Raorao?”

Brushing off the grass bits on her school skirt, Jiang Shengyue turned her head and looked at the blonde beauty who had been watching them for ten minutes. “Do you need something from me?”

As she assessed the girl, Jiang Shengyue subtly guessed that she must be a graduate student. After all, during the weekdays, only graduate students had the privilege of wearing casual clothes on campus.

“What is your relationship with him…Su Yuchen?”

Vivian Newmoon looked a bit melancholic as she observed Jiang Shengyue. She had promised Miss Tia to ‘look after’ Su Yuchen, but initially hadn’t noticed anything odd. However, on a whim today, she took a stroll here and found Su Yuchen sleeping next to a junior sister…

Unbelievable… Did Miss Tia anticipate such a thing happening?

Regardless, she felt she had failed in her duty!!!

So, she directly questioned this junior about her relationship with Su Yuchen.

Jiang Shengyue raised an eyebrow. “Senior sister, who are you?”

“Vivian Newmoon!”

‘A vampire, and a current member of the royal Newmoon clan.’

Jiang Shengyue looked at Vivian and asked calmly, “What’s your relationship with him?”

“Me and him…” Vivian’s face darkened. “I’m the one asking you, understand?”

Jiang Shengyue neither confirmed nor denied. “Do I have an obligation to answer you, Vampire Senior?”

“Of course!” Vivian sneered. “Because you’re the third party!”

“The third party?” Jiang Shengyue assessed Vivian for a moment. “Are you his official girlfriend?”

“No, but you are the third party.” Vivian stared blankly at Jiang Shengyue. “Interfering with someone else’s relationship, the third wheel!”

“Then tell me, whose relationship am I interfering with?”

“My roommate’s!”

“Who’s your roommate?” Jiang Shengyue asked impatiently. After all that talk, she still hadn’t mentioned a name—was she referring to herself as “my roommate”?

“Tia Yufei!” Vivian glared at Jiang Shengyue. “Don’t you know how close they are?”

“Are they a couple? Or what kind of close relationship?” Jiang Shengyue noted this somewhat familiar name.

“They… are definitely a couple.” Vivian asserted.

“Then let her come to me directly and confirm it!” Jiang Shengyue tossed back as she turned to leave. Su Yuchen had been having lunch with her for so long, and she hadn’t heard a word about this Tia Yufei looking for her.

A couple?

If they were really a couple, wouldn’t she have shown up by now?

Watching Jiang Shengyue walk away, Vivian furrowed her brows. She took out her phone and immediately called Tia Yufei… but no one answered.

“Unbelievable, her man’s being stolen, and she won’t even pick up the phone.” Vivian muttered to herself as she sent Tia Yufei a text, her eyes full of exasperation and confusion.

She couldn’t understand why such a weak guy was attractive to so many good-looking girls?

Absolutely ridiculous!

Staring at the unanswered chat, Vivian sighed heavily. Now she had even more on her plate…

Moreover—

“Such a player, scumbag!”

Vivian thought angrily, A physically weak guy, yet the weaker they are, the more they want to prove their strength!

Bah!

Daring to disgrace the noble lineage of Miss Tia!
