- Chapter 11 - The Beautiful Yang Linlin
Pitter-patter~
The shower water poured down on her body.
Yang Linlin felt streams of warm water flowing over her skin.
Meanwhile, Ling Xiao was in the living room, making a list of ingredients needed for tomorrow’s meals.
He knew Yang Linlin had been having a tough time these past few days and had caught a chill, so he planned to make her some soup tomorrow to help ward off the cold.
Before long, the bathroom door opened once more.
Ling Xiao looked up.
He saw Yang Linlin emerge wrapped in a bathrobe.
She had even pulled the robe up to her collarbone.
The only skin visible was her pair of fair, long legs.
But it had to be said, Yang Linlin’s figure appeared even more slender when wrapped in the bathrobe.
Then, she simply said: “I… I’m going back to my room.”
“Okay.” Ling Xiao nodded. “The hairdryer is already in your room. After you dry your hair, get some sleep.”
“Okay.”
Just as Yang Linlin was about to enter her room, she turned back to look at Ling Xiao.
Ling Xiao asked curiously: “What’s wrong? Do you need something?”
Yang Linlin shook her head gently, then bowed slightly and said: “Brother Ling Xiao, thank you.”
After speaking, she entered her room and gently closed the bedroom door.
Ling Xiao recalled her initially helpless expression and thought that she must have suffered a great blow these past two days.
After all, he knew this was just a game.
But she didn’t.
She truly believed everyone in the world had disappeared.
Leaving only her alone.
Now that she could find a companion, psychologically speaking, it provided some solace, however small.
Meanwhile, Yang Linlin, having dried her hair, lay on the bed, took out her phone, looked at a photo with her grandma, and her eyes moistened once again.
Holding thoughts of her grandma close to her heart, she placed both hands on her chest, curled up her legs, and fell asleep in a half-sideways position.
In her dream, she even returned to her former life.
After school, she would return to her grandma’s house, eat and chat with her grandma.
After dinner in the evening, Chen Ting would share interesting stories from her day.
That life seemed so peaceful and harmonious.
She didn’t know how much time had passed.
Yang Linlin woke up and opened her eyes.
She realized it had only been a dream.
Thinking of this, Yang Linlin felt even sadder.
She opened the closet and discovered the homeowner had some women’s clothes that, judging by their style, were quite fashionable.
Looking at her own damp clothes by the chair, Yang Linlin had no choice but to change into a set.
Leaving the bedroom, she looked around.
No one was in the living room.
Ling Xiao wasn’t there.
Yang Linlin initially thought Ling Xiao was in his bedroom, so she went to the sofa and sat quietly.
But as time passed bit by bit…
The entire house remained completely silent.
Yang Linlin began to feel restless.
She cautiously approached Ling Xiao’s bedroom door, knocked, and tentatively called out: “Senior…”
“Knock, knock, knock”
“Senior…”
After calling twice with no response, fear began to rise in her heart.
Just as she hesitated whether to open the door and enter, the sound of a door opening came from outside.
Yang Linlin suddenly felt panicked.
She wasn’t sure if the person outside was Ling Xiao.
Fear welled up inside her.
She even prepared to reach for a teacup on the table with her right hand.
As the door opened, Ling Xiao walked in carrying a bag in each hand. When he saw Yang Linlin standing in the middle of the living room looking at him, he exclaimed in surprise, “You’re awake already?”
Yang Linlin’s tense nerves relaxed slightly as she asked, “Did you go shopping?”
“Shopping? No need. The supermarket downstairs is ours,” Ling Xiao explained.
Only then did Yang Linlin realize that everything here now belonged to them.
Ling Xiao then handed her a bag, saying, “Here!”
Yang Linlin was somewhat puzzled. “This…”
“These are all new women’s clothes I took from the clothing store. I didn’t know which style you’d prefer, so I brought as many as I could.”
“And also… I brought back some underwear too, but I didn’t know your size, so I brought all of them,” Ling Xiao said somewhat awkwardly.
Hearing his explanation, Yang Linlin gradually felt warmth in her heart.
But her face flushed crimson. Holding the clothes, she blushed shyly and said, “Th-thank you.”
After speaking, she took the clothes and returned to her bedroom.
Closing the door, she opened the bag.
There were various dresses, pants, and clothing styles inside.
This finally lifted Yang Linlin’s spirits somewhat.
After all, women are like this – when encountering cosmetics or beautiful new clothes, the gloom in their hearts always dissipates a little.
But the next moment, she didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
Picking up the bright red bra, she looked somewhat embarrassed at the size of the underwear, then muttered, “It’s too small.”
After two days of recovery, Yang Linlin had gradually adapted to the environment of the apocalypse.
Ling Xiao had originally thought their relationship would progress from initial politeness to gradual familiarity.
But Yang Linlin remained quite respectful, usually returning to her room to rest after meals.
Though she didn’t speak much, she basically took care of all the household chores.
Ling Xiao didn’t mind, as emotional recovery takes time.
If he didn’t know this was a game, he probably wouldn’t have been able to adapt so quickly either.
“I’m going to the gas station to get some fuel,” Ling Xiao told Yang Linlin after breakfast one morning.
Yang Linlin habitually nodded and said, “Okay, I’ll do the dishes.”
After speaking, she efficiently cleared the table.
Leaving home, Ling Xiao rode his motorcycle around the city.
Nowadays, motorcycles were the best means of transportation.
The roads were filled with abandoned vehicles everywhere, and only motorcycles could navigate through small paths unimpeded.
Arriving at the gas station, Ling Xiao picked up the fuel nozzle and filled the gas cans.
He looked up at the sky – endless and clear.
It was good weather.
“I should have taken the blankets out to the balcony to sun them,” Ling Xiao thought with some regret.
The previous two days had been humid, and the house had felt somewhat damp.
Ling Xiao brought the filled gas cans back to the supermarket and refueled the generator.
After completing everything, he returned home.
Opening the door, he saw Yang Linlin staggering toward the balcony while carrying blankets.
Seeing this, he immediately went forward to help support her.
Seeing Ling Xiao had returned, Yang Linlin quickly explained, “I… I thought the weather was nice today, so I wanted to sun the blankets.”
“Good,” Ling Xiao responded. “I was coming back to do just that. Did you sun mine as well?”
This casually spoken question made Yang Linlin somewhat embarrassed. She said apologetically, “I’m sorry, I did think about helping you sun the quilt, Senior, but I was worried about entering your room without your permission, so…”
“It’s fine, I’ll get it myself.”
Ling Xiao didn’t mind what Yang Linlin said and went inside to get the quilt.
Later, during the meal, he noticed Yang Linlin seemed preoccupied, as if she wanted to say something.
So Ling Xiao took the initiative to ask, “What’s wrong?”
Yang Linlin hesitated for a moment before apologizing again, “I’m sorry, I didn’t help you sun the quilt today… I’ll definitely pay attention next time.”
This left Ling Xiao very puzzled—had he been harsh with her earlier?!
