Ling Xiao was quite surprised by Yang Linlin’s words.

He didn’t know what to say.

Logically speaking, this was just a dream game.

The person before him was merely an NPC.

Yet during their time together, she was no different from a real person.

She had long considered him her closest companion.

Ling Xiao silently picked up the cola and took two sips.

Yang Linlin immediately laughed and said, “You drank an extra mouthful.”

“I asked two questions just now, so I need to drink one more,” Ling Xiao explained.

Yang Linlin looked at him and said, “Alright, it’s my turn to ask you.”

“Okay, go ahead.”

Yang Linlin thought for a moment, then suddenly remembered something and asked, “I want to ask you a question, but don’t get angry.”

“It’s fine, ask away,” Ling Xiao said calmly.

“You really didn’t have any intention of looking at the phone recording just now, did you?” Yang Linlin asked with a sly smile.

Hearing this, Ling Xiao chuckled and shook his head: “No.”

“Okay, I’ll drink!”

With that, Yang Linlin picked up the ginger soup and began drinking.

While drinking the ginger soup, she actually felt somewhat disappointed in her heart.

Was she really so unattractive in Ling Xiao’s eyes?

Women are like this.

If Ling Xiao had peeked, she might have thought this guy was too perverted.

But since he didn’t look, she fell into self-doubt.

Was she not pretty enough to spark any desire?

After finishing the ginger soup, she immediately said, “This isn’t satisfying enough. How about we drink something else?”

“Something else?” Ling Xiao was puzzled.

“Yes, alcohol.” Yang Linlin pointed to the red wine on the cabinet and said, “Let’s have some wine.”

But Ling Xiao shook his head: “No, you have a cold. You can’t drink alcohol.”

“I’ll take one sip, and you drink a full glass,” Yang Linlin insisted, as if determined to challenge Ling Xiao to drink.

Ling Xiao didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, so he had to agree.

He poured a small glass of red wine for Yang Linlin and reminded her, “When you drink later, just take a small sip.”

“Okay, now it’s your turn to ask,” Yang Linlin prompted.

After hearing this, Ling Xiao thought for a moment.

Actually, his curiosity had already been satisfied.

He finally understood why Yang Linlin always used to say sorry.

But he did recall a good question.

“When we live together, do you ever worry that I might take advantage of you?”

This question caught Yang Linlin off guard.

Ling Xiao noticed the subtle change in her expression and smiled: “You have to tell the truth.”

Yang Linlin had no choice but to say: “I used to.”

She quickly added: “But not anymore.”

After hearing this, Ling Xiao simply smiled and drank a glass of red wine.

He looked at Yang Linlin and said: “Alright, last question. Make it count.”

Yang Linlin thought seriously.

Looking at the red wine in her glass, she finally said: “So, Brother Ling Xiao, what type of girls do you like? Or what was your ex-girlfriend like?”

Ling Xiao calmly replied: “There’s no fixed type. People think they know what they want—until they meet someone they can’t ignore.”

“In the end, when you really like someone, your preferences end up adjusting to them. That’s just how it is.”

After hearing this, Yang Linlin was quite satisfied with the answer.

So, she raised that glass of red wine.

Seeing this, Ling Xiao advised, “Just drink a little.”

But the next second, Yang Linlin downed it all in one go.

“You drank that much?!” Ling Xiao was surprised.

Yang Linlin, however, said with a grin, “I’ve never had red wine before, so I wanted to try it. And you know what? It’s pretty good.”

“Drinking half a glass in one go, you should be careful not to get drunk.” Ling Xiao stood up and said with concern, “You should go to bed now. I’m going to take a shower first.”

“I’m so hot, I’ll go to bed later.” Yang Linlin pretended to fan herself with her hand.

“Alright then.”

Ling Xiao didn’t think much of it and took his clothes into the bathroom.

Yang Linlin watched closely, and as soon as she saw Ling Xiao enter the bathroom, she immediately turned her gaze to the bottle of red wine on the table.

Fifteen minutes later, Ling Xiao came out of the bathroom, drying his hair as he said, “Alright, you should go to bed now.”

When he looked up, he saw Yang Linlin sitting in the chair, her face flushed red.

The bottle of red wine on the table was already empty.

Ling Xiao was astonished, “Did you drink?”

“I only drank… a little.” Yang Linlin gestured with her fingers, “Just a little bit.”

“A little? The entire bottle of red wine is gone.” Ling Xiao said helplessly.

As he was cleaning up the empty wine bottle from the table, he noticed that Yang Linlin had already slumped over the table, her eyelids fluttering open and closed, looking drowsy.

So Ling Xiao reminded her, “Come on, I’ll help you to the bedroom to sleep.”

But the next second, Yang Linlin had fallen asleep.

Seeing this, Ling Xiao had no choice but to pick her up and sighed, “You can’t handle alcohol, yet you still drink. Really.”

Yang Linlin lay in Ling Xiao’s arms, sleeping soundly.

He gently laid her on the bed.

Ling Xiao could even catch the faint fragrance from her neck.

Although he was a gentleman, he was also a young man full of vigor.

Looking at the nearly S-shaped posture of her figure in front of him, her long legs like a deadly weapon in the night, constantly attacking Ling Xiao’s mental defenses.

He took a deep breath and still carefully covered her with the blanket.

Finally, he closed the bedroom door.

Under the covers, Yang Linlin, fast asleep, had a secret, happy smile on her lips.

Back in his own bedroom, Ling Xiao lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling.

Tossing and turning.

His mind was filled with images of Yang Linlin’s fair skin.

In the following days.

The weather in Beijiang became increasingly strange.

First, there were violent storms, followed by temperatures nearing 40 degrees Celsius.

Although they could generate electricity and use the air conditioner now, Yang Linlin was worried that the kerosene would run out, leaving the generator useless, so she strictly regulated the air conditioning usage time.

Ling Xiao was so hot that he wished he could soak in the bathtub.

Yang Linlin sometimes couldn’t stand the heat either.

Her clothes became fewer and fewer, and even shorter and shorter.

This only added fuel to the fire for Ling Xiao, who was already sweating from the heat.

However, this kind of weather didn’t last long before it eased up.

The reason was that the weather in Beijiang changed again.

The temperature dropped by twenty degrees in a single day.

Strong winds, heavy rain, extreme heat, and bitter cold—all kinds of harsh weather conditions came one after another.

But that wasn’t the deadliest part.

At this critical moment, the generator broke down.

Ling Xiao had no choice but to put on thick clothes and a hat to go out and look for a generator.

Seeing this, Yang Linlin immediately said, “I’m coming too.”

“No, it’s snowing outside, it’s too cold. Wait for me to come back.” After zipping up his jacket, Ling Xiao left the house.

Yang Linlin immediately went to the window.

She looked down at the street below, watching Ling Xiao ride away on his motorcycle, praying in her heart: “Brother, please be careful.”
