After eating a few fruits, Zhang Liu stopped, as they weren’t particularly flavorful.

Considering that the fruit seemed safe, he didn’t eat more than ten.

He then began to divide the oyster meat and coconut meat into three small piles, using the coconut shell to contain them.

Sometimes, girls do pay more attention to details than boys.

Zhang Liu didn’t want to see any issues arise between Anya and Qin Ruoshuang the next day, such as one of them feeling upset about the other eating more or less.

“Coconut meat really isn’t very tasty,” Anya had been able to tolerate the bland food when they had it for the first meal, but she was already complaining about the second meal.

For this, both Zhang Liu and Qin Ruoshuang could only sigh quietly.

“Tomorrow, we’ll try to start a fire,” Zhang Liu said as he struggled to chew the coconut meat in his mouth, which was almost like jelly. “Then we can have something hot to eat.”

“Are we going to use fire by drilling wood?” Although she complained about the taste, the hunger in her body forced Anya to finish the coconut meat on her plate. She didn’t mind the sliminess of the oyster meat either.

After finishing the coconut meat, Anya quickly grabbed several pieces of oyster meat and swallowed them without hesitation. Her actions were decisive, even more so than Qin Ruoshuang and Zhang Liu.

“Let’s try tomorrow; I’m not sure if it will work,” Zhang Liu shook his head. He also thought about using wood to start a fire by drilling. However…

It didn’t seem very realistic. Even though he understood the principle of friction generating heat, could he really generate enough heat by rubbing wood together with just his hands?

Zhang Liu felt unsure.

While they were eating, Qin Ruoshuang remained silent, her discomfort growing as the temperature around them began to drop. Her stomach pain seemed to intensify.

After swallowing the last oyster with difficulty, Qin Ruoshuang said to Zhang Liu beside her in the dim light, “I’m full. Can you help me finish the remaining coconut meat?”

“Sure!” Zhang Liu nodded and took the remaining coconut meat from her plate, eating it all.

The last bit of sunlight was quietly swallowed by the horizon, and the remaining red hue in the sky disappeared from the clouds. The dark colors overtook the entire space, and the world fell silent.

“It’s dark,” Anya said, curling up next to Qin Ruoshuang, feeling the comfort of her classmate’s presence. She let out a sigh of relief and softly muttered, “It was like this last night too. It scared me to death.”

“It’s fine. At least there are some stars,” Zhang Liu, lying not far from the two girls with his hands behind his head, looked up at the stars in the sky through the cave entrance. He comforted them, saying, “It’s the new moon right now, so the moon isn’t very visible. But when it’s the full moon, it will be really big.”

“Yeah… I remember that the final event of the school trip was to watch the moon,” Qin Ruoshuang agreed with Zhang Liu’s words, also drawing closer to Anya. She felt her stomach ache and her body freezing terribly, desperately needing warmth.

Anya noticed Qin Ruoshuang’s movement.

She paused for a moment, then quickly realized that her classmate must be suffering through her periods.

Feeling around in the dark, Anya found Qin Ruoshuang’s hand and gently held it, asking in a barely audible voice, “Your hands are so cold, how are you feeling?”

“It’s worse at night,” Qin Ruoshuang responded in a very weak voice, not wanting Zhang Liu to overhear the somewhat embarrassing matter. “Your pants might be ruined too.”

“It’s better than not having anything,” Anya heard the guilt in Qin Ruoshuang’s voice and quickly reassured her, “Why don’t you sleep hugging me? My mom always says I’m like a little heater, and when you hug me, you’ll feel warm all over!”

Before Qin Ruoshuang could respond, Anya moved closer, ready to lie in her arms to provide warmth.

However, Qin Ruoshuang forcefully stopped her.

“My stomach hurts… I can’t be pressed,” sensing Anya’s confusion, Qin Ruoshuang quickly explained in a low voice, “Just holding my hand like this is already a lot better.”

“Okay.” Anya nodded. She then removed the skirt from her waist, spread it out, and placed it over their bellies, using it to provide some warmth.

Zhang Liu, who had been listening to the quiet conversation and rustling sounds, didn’t intervene, as he understood that this was a private matter for the girls.

Soon, they all fell silent and drifted off to sleep.

After being shielded from the surroundings, their sense of safety while sleeping increased significantly.

“Awoo…”

The wolf howl sounded again in the middle of the night, and Qin Ruoshuang was the first to wake up.

Anya, who had her head on Qin Ruoshuang’s chest, also woke up because of her movement.

They were both startled by the wolf’s howl. It had scared them both the night before.

As for Zhang Liu, he was still in his deep, undisturbed sleep.

“It’s okay…” Feeling Anya’s slight tremble and knowing how nervous she was, Qin Ruoshuang tried to remain calm. She held Anya’s hand and comforted her, “Zhang Liu said wolves won’t attack large unfamiliar animals easily.”

“Okay.” Anya nodded slightly but didn’t say more because she noticed that Qin Ruoshuang’s palm was sweating, clearly indicating she was either lying or nervous.

After a moment, Anya softly called Zhang Liu’s name.

In such a moment, having a guy wake up would give her a stronger sense of safety.

However, Zhang Liu was the type of person whose sleep couldn’t be easily disturbed.

Last night, Qin Ruoshuang had to call him for almost half an hour before waking him up. Let alone now, when Anya could barely make any sound due to fear.

“Do you have feelings for him?” Just as Anya was about to directly shake Zhang Liu awake, she suddenly heard Qin Ruoshuang’s question in her ear.

“…” Anya froze. She hadn’t expected Qin Ruoshuang to be so direct.

“What… what are you talking about? Zhang Liu? How could I…” Anya quickly lay back down, glancing at the boy nearby who was breathing evenly in deep sleep, avoiding the last words she couldn’t bring herself to say.

Anya was worried about one thing.

That is… what if Zhang Liu was pretending to be asleep?

If she said something like that now, it would be over.

“Don’t worry, his sleep quality is really good. Last night, even with the wolves howling, I called him for a long time before he woke up.” Sensing Anya’s hesitation, Qin Ruoshuang continued, “There’s a huge gap between you and Zhang Liu.”

“Yeah… there is a big gap,” Anya nodded. She knew the gap between her and Zhang Liu very well.

After coming here, Zhang Liu had been actively trying to find solutions and contribute. But she had been in a daze.

After thinking for a while, Anya gritted her teeth and said, “I’ll work harder to help.”

“That’s not what I meant. I’m talking about the real difference between you and Zhang Liu. You’re the heiress of the super-rich An family. Zhang Liu, on the other hand, is just an ordinary poor student. On this deserted island, those background differences have been erased… but what about after you’re rescued?” Qin Ruoshuang gently pulled the now-silent Anya into a light hug, then added, “That’s all I’ll say. Think about it for yourself.”

After hearing it spelled out like that, Anya’s thoughts became completely chaotic.

After a long time, she quietly asked, “What if we have to stay here for the rest of our lives?”

Qin Ruoshuang was stunned. She didn’t expect Anya to answer with such a question.
