- Stranded on a Deserted Island—They All Started Plotting Against Me
- Chapter 3 - Chapter 3
“I’ll go look around again and see if I can find anything useful. Hopefully, rescue will come tonight,” Zhang Liu said, breaking the gloomy atmosphere.
He knew that in survival situations, falling into despair was a fatal mistake.
After saying this, he walked out of the shaded area and repeatedly told Qin Ruoshuang not to wander off to avoid the risk of getting lost in this desolate place.
He planned to explore a bit more and then spend the night by the small hill nearby.
There wasn’t much shelter near the hill, but it was still better than sleeping on the beach, exposed to the wind all night.
Earlier, while collecting coconuts, Zhang Liu had walked around and gotten a general sense of the area.
Although he wasn’t entirely sure if this was an uninhabited island, food didn’t seem to be a pressing concern for now.
The dark, impenetrable forest behind them likely hid various unknown resources.
Even just around the vicinity, there were at least a hundred coconut trees, each bearing about ten green coconuts.
The ground also had plenty of fallen, mature coconuts.
Eating too much coconut meat dulled its flavor, leaving only its slippery texture. Occasionally, he’d hit a woody bit while scooping it out, making it far less appetizing than expected.
But it was better than going hungry.
He figured that, even if they only ate coconuts, he and Qin Ruoshuang could survive for quite a while.
However, as far as Zhang Liu knew, eating too much coconut could lead to diarrhea and other illnesses. If they could find other food, that would be ideal.
Walking along the beach, Zhang Liu saw the SOS he had drawn earlier. He glanced at it, his heart filled with hope.
He wished that the rescue team would spot it soon so he could return to civilization.
After Zhang Liu left, Qin Ruoshuang pressed a hand to her chest, her pale face tinged with a shy blush.
When Zhang Liu performed the oral inspection and CPR on her earlier, she had already regained consciousness but hadn’t been fully awake.
After hesitating for a moment, she took off her clothes and skirt, then unfastened her undergarments.
The natural shape of a girl’s chest, combined with prolonged exposure to the elements, easily caused liquid to accumulate there over time.
Especially since she had been wearing a push-up bra, which, while enhancing the appearance of her modest figure, was also prone to absorbing water and causing discomfort.
Under normal circumstances, she would simply find a private spot to make adjustments. But with Zhang Liu nearby earlier, she hadn’t dared to address the issue.
Now that he had walked away, she quickly decided to deal with it.
At the very least, she needed to wring the water out of the padding.
After putting her uniform back on, she grabbed her undergarments and wrung them out forcefully.
As the liquid dripped from the fabric, Qin Ruoshuang peeked out from behind the rock wall to ensure Zhang Liu wasn’t coming back.
Although he had saved her, she was worried that being seen like this might lead to unnecessary misunderstandings.
Once she had wrung out as much water as possible, she put the damp undergarments back on.
Feeling the slightly dry but still damp sensation against her chest, she let out a small sigh of relief. Finally, she had the time to observe her surroundings.
Spotting the nearby coconut trees, Qin Ruoshuang stood and walked toward them.
Although Zhang Liu had told her to stay put, she didn’t want to just sit there doing nothing.
Since he had generously offered her the first opened coconut, she felt she should repay him in some small way by doing what she could—even if it’s just picking up a few coconuts that fell under the tree.
Just as Qin Ruoshuang bent down to pick up her third coconut, a sudden pain struck her lower abdomen, accompanied by a strange sensation.
Her face turned pale as she instinctively dropped the coconut and clutched her stomach. A strong, unusual feeling began to slowly creep downward, and in that moment, a horrifying realization struck her.
Counting the days, she remembered—her period was due!
But here, on this deserted island, there was no soft, comfortable “pads” for girls to use.
Her eyes filled with panic, but she gritted her teeth and, despite the pain in her abdomen, forced herself to walk back toward the coconut grove. She was determined to keep collecting coconuts.
At this moment, Qin Ruoshuang understood that she had no luxury to act spoiled, waiting for a maid to bring her a cup of brown sugar water.
…
Perhaps it was the effect of talking to someone and feeling more relaxed, or the comfort of having a companion nearby, but Zhang Liu’s mood was notably better as he walked under the harsh afternoon sun along the beach.
“Hmm, I’ll check the beach for a bit, then prepare for the night,” Zhang Liu said to himself as he looked at the sun’s position.
Though he had no way to tell the exact time, judging by the sun’s height and intensity, it seemed to be around two or three in the afternoon.
Wasting no time, he headed straight to the beach, hoping to find anything washed ashore by the waves.
Compared to the abundance of coconuts available as a temporary food source, Zhang Liu was much more eager to find useful tools.
After combing the beach for a long time, the sky began to glow with the hues of an impending sunset. Unfortunately, aside from spotting some unfamiliar fish in the water—which he failed to catch—his only discovery was a few large foam boards covered in green algae, along with a palm-sized, heavily rusted iron piece lodged in one of them.
Thinking that the foam could at least be used as a makeshift cushion to keep him and Qin Ruoshuang off the sand, he scraped off the algae with a stone and carried the boards back. As for the iron piece, Zhang Liu cautiously sandwiched it between two foam boards for safekeeping.
Having basic knowledge about tetanus, he didn’t dare touch or use the rusted metal directly. He decided to save it for a situation where proper precautions could be taken. After all, there were no doctors here, and any injury could prove fatal.
Carrying a stack of foam boards almost as tall as himself, Zhang Liu returned to the shaded hillside where they had sought refuge earlier, only to find the spot empty.
Qin Ruoshuang was nowhere in sight.
Dropping the foam boards in a hurry, he anxiously scanned the surroundings.
What happened? Was she rescued? Or had she encountered danger?
As his thoughts raced, his gaze fell upon a white triangular piece of intimate clothing lying on the ground.
If Zhang Liu wasn’t mistaken, this was the underwear Qin Ruoshuang had been wearing beneath her skirt…
What on earth had happened?
“Qin Ruoshuang! Where are you?”
He shouted as loud as he could, his mind racing with all sorts of terrifying scenarios. Moments later, a weak voice responded.
“Zhang Liu…”
He turned to see Qin Ruoshuang slowly emerging from behind the rocky hillside, her hand bracing against the stones. Her face was pale, and her voice trembled as she spoke, “I’m not feeling well…”
